Music Theory is the foundation on which we as musicians base our understanding of the music we play. Every style of music has a system that governs the sounds that are pleasing and acceptable, and it is important to be well-versed in those rules. Whether you want to integrate the study of music theory into bassoon lessons or study it on its own, we will work together to help you achieve a greater understanding and appreciation of music through the study of this fundamental subject. We will draw from a number of historical sources and easy-to-read texts to turn the rules of music theory into an elegant and beautiful arrangement of sound.

Allen H. is a highly experienced performer of bassoon, earning degrees from some of the most prestigious schools in the world including Indiana University and Juilliard. He is available for in-studio, in-home, and online lessons on a variety of musical topics, and has experience teaching a wide range of students from high school to adult. He is dedicated to helping you achieve your musical goals using an approach that is tailored to you. He will often relate musical concepts in non-musical terms, making his approach easily accessible to a wide variety of students.
