About Allegra A.

★About Me★

My name is Allegra Ambrosio Wood and I teach beginning → intermediate Japanese reading, writing and speaking. Whether you're in school and need help with assignments, want to watch that new Anime without subtitles, planning a trip there, or just have an interest in the culture, I'm here to help!

As a former Rotary Youth Ambassador and Global Education Oregon Ambassador to Japan for two years, I began my Japanese language journey in full-immersion not speaking a word - with no one around me speaking English. So, having to teach myself the langauge from the ground up it's safe to say I know the tips and tricks to tackle Japanese. In addition to living and working there, I minored in the language in University and worked over a year bilingually at a Japanese company based in Seattle.

I'm all about learning a new language in your own way!
Japanese is a tough one to crack, but I'm confident that I can help you get started.

Looking forward to our first lesson! 頑張りましょう!

★With Me, Students Can Learn★

For Beginners:

・自己紹介 (self-introductions)

・Conversational speaking

, etc.

For Intermediate-Level:

+ Writing emails: Keigo (business Japanese)

+ Speaking: formal introductions, conversations, etc.

★Lesson Schedule★
I teach Monday through Fridays 6pm-8pm and Sundays 11am-4pm.
I suggest booking lessons for 60 minutes once a week (reoccurring) for the best learning results.
Learning a new language requires lots of patience and practice! :)

★Cancellation Policy★
Sometimes things come up - I totally get it!
All I ask is that you give me at least 24 hours notice before your lesson time and we can reschedule the lesson (you’ll get to keep your credit for that lesson). If not, or for no-shows, the lesson will be marked “missed” (you’ll lose a lesson credit).
*If you miss 3 lessons in a row, another student may take your reoccurring time slot and we’ll need to find a new time.

★Required Materials★
・In-person lessons only: Please bring a notebook. I use this to write notes in for you. You can find one on Amazon for about $5. Let me know if you need help with that!
・Online lessons only: Create a folder for our lessons, I will be sending you various files and PDFs so keep them all in the same place for easy access. depending on what you are learning.

★Teacher Location Information★
・Cats: I have two very friendly cats named Otto and Ink at my home location. They are very sweet and quiet and all of my students love them! However, if you are allergic to cats I would suggest booking online lessons.
・Parking: There is usually street parking available around the building.

Please feel free to send me a message with any questions!
