Hello, my name is Alicia! I teach lessons in voice, basic piano and musicianship skills/music theory. I have completed two degrees in music: a BM in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and an MM in Vocal Performance from UNC Greensboro. I have seven years experience teaching private and group voice classes. I teach a range of ages, from elementary school through college, up to adult students. I specialize in Classical and Musical Theatre styles of singing, but I also have experience with teaching contemporary styles, as well as choral music and folk music. My main goal as a teacher is developing a healthy singing technique with each student. This is essential for any style of music you wish to sing. The skills we focus on in lessons will include breath management and relaxation, with a focus on maintaining vocal health. Through this, students learn how to properly take care of their instrument as it develops. We will focus on becoming well-rounded musicians by working on such skills as sight-reading, ear-training, and basic keyboard knowledge. Part of our lesson time will also include acting work, audition techniques, and performance skills. I believe it is important to take into account the musical interests of each student, so that lessons are always fun! ​ I offer half hour, forty-five minute, and hour long lessons.
