Hi there! My name is Alexandra, and I am so excited to meet you! Singing has always been a huge part of my identity. When I was a young girl, I would sing and sing and sing - but nobody told me how to best use my voice to express myself until I was 12. That is why, as a voice teacher, my focus is on young and beginner singers. Discovering the gift of one's own voice is such a special process, and it's a true honor to get to take that journey with each of my students. I have a Bachelor of Science in Music History with a voice concentration, a Master of Sacred Music, and am an ordained Jewish clergy with a speciality in singing. I have been teaching in some capacity for almost a decade, and have been focusing on youth voice for about 3 years. I play both guitar and piano, and have found great joy in using those instruments to accompany myself and my students. As a singer, I take pride in being a life-long learner, and have been learning from my own voice teachers for nearly 20 years. I have extensive experience in using my voice for a demanding amount of speaking woven in and out of a considerable amount of singing, so I can help a young singer navigate that world (most commonly done in musical theater). I also incorporate learning to read music and music theory into my lessons, as I consider that to be an incredibly important part of being a musician. If there is interest, I can also help build and strengthen sight-reading skills. The human voice is a complex but beautiful gift, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to help young singers navigate their own voices!
