Hello there music lovers! I am a pianist gone musical mad hatter named Alexx Magic! I love music! I've been playing since I was just 5 years old when I first started piano lessons. When my teacher saw how much I loved it, she recommended I go to a community music school where I was taught music theory, additional instruments, given opportunities to play in orchestras and chamber music groups. But even that wasn't enough for me! I joined every possible music class at regular school as well and in my off time from school I practiced for hours. Oh how I love to play the piano! I would play to ESCAPE AND ENJOY myself while everyone was working so hard. And I just love performing and the thrill and joy it brings to others. But practicing classical music wasn't enough for me and playing in all those ensembles and classes wasn't enough either. I got a guitar when I turned 12 and formed my first band with my friends. We would record our sessions using a karaoke machine or eventually a 4-track tape machine. We would jam for HOURS and have so much FUN just NOODLING and IMPROVISING!! By the time I got to college for classical piano, I was already exploring quite a lot about recording music and songwriting. I was writing my own songs using ProTools and my laptop, plus my guitar and a sense of imagination (also known as FREE SOUNDZ ON THE INTERNETZ). And thus I began composing my own music. Without really the feedback of the institutions I was surrounded with. After I graduated I taught music for a living while mostly exploring different rock bands and solo projects trying to figure out who I really was as an artist. Fast forward to today, where I live in LA and am producing some exciting new artists songs, including my own solo music under the name Alexx Magic. I still love to play classical piano and jazz standards, but I want to show people the world of so called "popular music” and just how vast that world is as well, it's beautiful connection to poetry and literature and drama and history.
