About Alexander P.

Hi there! My name is Alex, and whether you are a kid with big dreams of Broadway, a young professional needing some targeted instruction, or an adult wanting to make your secret singing hobby a reality, I'd be more than happy to help you on your way!

I have been teaching since I was fifteen years old, and for the past decade in NYC I’ve worked professionally as an educator for all age groups in a wide variety of formats: a private coach for cumulatively more than 100 students (children, teenagers, professionals, and non-traditional students who come to music from non-related industries) teaching voice, song analysis, audition prep, and piano; an in- and after-school teaching artist at more than 40 public and private institutions in NYC; and a music director for nearly 30 productions with students aged pre-K through college.

Lesson plans are based entirely on the student’s goals, with equal focus on SKILL-BUILDING (e.g. ear training, range extension, vocal facility, etc) and APPLICATION (incorporating techniques into song performance). I have an extensive library of sheet music, and will take great care with each student to help select fresh repertoire that speaks to them personally, highlights their strengths, and challenges them artistically. The learning environment is kept positive and supportive at all times, with a strong emphasis on patience and empathy, so that the student can take ownership of their progress and share in the joy of making music!

Alexander is Fantastic!

After taking lessons for months with an Opera Singer from the MET who gave classes to other Opera singers and actors from the Actor's Studio, I was simply blown away in terms of how much MORE Alexander taught me in just two classes. Can't imagine how far along I'd be now had I gone to him in the first place.

Alexander knows his craft from the inside out, and best of all, he knows how to communicate the basics to get you singing, and singing well, ASAP. The way he teaches is very logical, thus making the learning experience an intuitive one. He makes singing logical, which in fact makes it less intimidating and much more accessible.

A friend of mine in the Entertainment industry is also taking lessons with Alexander and we cannot recommend him enough. Alexander is a gem. If you want to learn how to sing, or simply improve the skills you have, do not hesitate to give him a call.
