    Alex Weitz is an experienced and award winning saxophonist, educator, and composer. He began his career in Tucson, AZ as a member of the award winning Tucson Jazz Institute Ellington Band. He went on to further his studies at the prestigious University of Miami Frost School of Music, where he completed his undergraduate studies in Jazz Saxophone Performance and graduate studies in Studio Jazz Writing. While at the University he gained invaluable mentorship and experience as a member of the Henry Mancini Institute Jazz Septet coached by Terence Blanchard, as well as the award winning Concert Jazz Band. Alex is also a passionate educator who has served on the faculty at Miami Conservatory of Music, and also at Coral Gables High School, Young Men's Preparatory Academy, Gulliver Prep, and numerous private students. Alex has appeared at prestigious venues including the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the Monterey Jazz Festival, Birdland Jazz Club, The Velvet Note, the Banff Center, the Arsht Center, the Telluride Jazz Festival, and the Jazz Showcase. He has been the recipient of numerous Downbeat and ASCAP awards, and his original composition "Song for Peace" licensed as the theme song for a Swedish national documentary. Alex was recently named a semi-finalist in the 2019 Michael Brecker International Jazz Saxophone Competition which will take place in August 2019 at the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat, Israel. ---- Alex is a professional musician dedicated to spreading the joy of music through performance and teaching. Private lessons are catered to the individual needs and goals of each student. This way, students are self motivated and excited to grow and improve as musicians and artists.

    Alex is an inspiring and fun teacher with a great way of explaining things. He is also a phenomenal performer if you ever have the chance to hear him.

    Alex is a great saxophone instructor. He is friendly, extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and has a great way of making difficult concepts and ideas seem simple. I couldn't recommend him more!
