Oil Painting

Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
******* I to teach Water mixable oil only because of the toxicity of turpentine based thinners. It is a very effective medium.
"Paint, draw or play about something that is meaningful to you."I've been teaching art for 2 years and my students have gone on to portraiture. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to study the nature of the media you have chosen i.e. painting, charcoal, other media and as time goes on you'll be able to expand your media and move towards a style or create your own. I specialize in surrealism with my influences being Vincent Van Gogh, Dali, Frieda Kahlo, Magritte and many others. I can introduce media that is includes paint, lead, prismacolor, charcoal, ink and more.
I have also studied the history of art extensively and read biographies of many artists.

About

Aleena delivers an exceptional lesson experience and ranks in the top 15% of our teachers nationwide.
Teaches students:
and Ages 7+

Teaching since:
January 2009

I've been teaching piano and art for 7 years and I've been associated with TakeLessons for 6 of those years in 2 different cities. I am able to travel during certain times and I also have studio and online availability. ***Although my training was in classical music, I currently compose and perform a variety of genres besides classical.

I get so much gratification teaching and music improves math and other cognitive skills. I'm an encouraging and flexible teacher because every student is different and requires their own focus and individualized lesson plan. My teaching style includes the classical method and basic to intermediate theory integrated with contemporary methods.

I also employ an enjoyable environment and open communication with parents/guardians and adult students.

****One of my students was a 16 years old virtuoso in classical guitar. He came to me because he never learned how to sight read. Within 6 months he was writing his own music and decided to change his specialty from guitar to piano.
*****Another one of my students was told he would never be able to "sight read" which is to read music from paper but he was reading music and within a few months he was writing it himself.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals! I encourage anyone who is interested in learning to begin lessons with the knowledge that they can eventually create any kind of art they desire.
I continue to perform and create which enables me to sharpen and maintain my skills.

I hope to have an opportunity to meet you soon and I encourage you to ask any questions you have!!!

*****I highly encourage scheduling only 30 minutes for children younger than 12 and beginners of other ages. Students are more likely to focus and enjoy their lessons when they are shorter in the beginning. They can always be extended later.

Aleena has been an amazing teacher for my son Isaac. Her level of
patience, knowledge and understanding with the ability to translate that in
a way that he can easily understand, I think is amazing.

Aleena is an amazing piano instructor.. She has truly been a blessing to me abd my daughter's life and teaching her how to play all types of music including classical music and her favorite song, "Fur Elise!" Aleena goes over and beyond to make sure her students are the "best of the best" and will not let them settle for anything less than that! I would recommend her to anyone who has a desire or passion for playing the piano and who loves the general aspect of music.. Aleena is patient, understanding, caring to all of her students and is always willing to help them reach their ultimate goals! Thanks so much for being an inspiration to me and my daughter and for helping her to create her musical path and finding a creative niche that she enjoys and wishes to pursue!

Aleena had taught my daughter more in the last six months than the previous teacher she had for two years. She's patient and thorough. We love her!
