Salsa Dancing with Albert R.

My story - From Romeo and Juliette the soft spoken advanced dancer to Albert and Chicago, a diva in the making where an actress was born. It took Albert to unveil the talents yet undiscovered to create a real Bratt! Chicago and the 2 men, a theatrical dance choreography by Albert mesmerized the audience. There were moves that I believed I would never do and have, and dressed up in a dress only my dreams would see. Had it not been for Albert I would have never challenged myself to do different style dances to my heart’ desire with no fear!

Albert is a phenomenal teacher. I have taken many group lessons with him in Montreal where Argentine tango was taught. The precision of the dance moves and the care shown for every student was amazing. Also, the choreographies were one of a kind. In Argentine Tango there is one particular move where the lady lifts her body mid air to cross both legs while the man is assisting her in this move - Amelia’s move was the nickname - for a reason. For all the practice in the world, I couldn’t get this move if you paid me. Not only did Albert reinforce that ‘I WILL DO IT’, he gave me the technique, love and care to make me continue to persevere, For the students that had mastered the move, his care for all students allowed the group to cheer me on where Amelia’s move nickname was born. The men in our group assisted me greatly and the ladies gave pointers that worked for them. After all, we were one family. When the date of the showcase arrived, the formation was a great success! Not a glitch in sight from anyone of us, all smiles and for me the feeling of having climbed Mount Everest. I will always cherish the great teachings I received from Albert and the beautiful picture taken of this signature move. Not only Albert commands a room in a spectacular way, for his students dare to dream the impossible dream. For Albert nothing in ever impossible to achieve only possibilities not yet explored.

It took me a while to work up the courage to enroll in dance classes without a partner. Albert made me feel comfortable and at ease right away. He is a very gifted teacher who has a way of breaking down the steps to make it easy and fun and yet he is very detail oriented and professional. He is always very encouraging and so much fun to be around.
