I played the Donald O'Connor part in Singin' in the Rain on Broadway as well as Charlie in Annie Get Your Gun with Bernadette Peters and then Reba among many other roles...... I ran into Albert in midtown recently and happened to mention an issue that always seems to come whenever I audition generally, and without missing a beat, Albert came up with a perfect, simple solution that had never occurred to me during my entire auditioning career. For free. He’s a problem-solver.

I've studied with wonderful vocal coaches and teachers and Albert is one of the best because he cares so much about his students and gives you the attention you need to support you as a singer. He is a genuine, kind and patient teacher. He listens to whatever you are looking to do as a performer and helps to guide you and get you ready for whatever your needs may be. I have gone to Albert feeling unsure of my talents and left feeling supported and like I could do anything. He is so helpful and positive and I've seen him help so many people achieve success after working with him. I highly recommend him as a teacher and musician.

Having had Albert as my music director on various projects (Dreyfus, Eating Raoul, The Big Bang, many others), I can attest to his uncanny ability with singers in terms of getting from them their very best. His ability to give them an all-around grasp of the material is nonpareil. I also have to add that his ability with an entire chorus is equally impressive and inspiring for them. Many times members of the cast have approached me to compliment Albert and his unusual and fascinating ways of teaching and imbuing the score "into their very core."

    Experience

Music Coach, Accompanist, Musical Director, Arranger

    Sep, 1970 - Present

    Private Music Studio

I was mainly a trombonist in high school, but that's when friends started asking me to play piano accompaniments for them at solo & ensemble festivals—and I couldn't resist coaching them too. They responded well, and here I am! -- Natural coaching instinct.

    Musical Director, Arranger, Orchestrator

    Mar, 2008 - Jan, 2009

    'The Christmas Sweater'—Nationwide Tour

Wrote music based on traditional themes, and led an onstage orchestra, backing a not-yet-infamous CNN personality in a staging of his semi-autobiographical NY Times Bestseller.

    Musical Director, Conductor, Arranger, Orchestrator

    Jan, 1995 - Sep, 2007

    Multiple Industrial Shows

Co-created shows with producers such as Jack Morton, Caribiner and Sandra Arnold; for Dean Witter, Johnson & Johnson, Siemens and others; at the Metropolitan Club (NYC), Plaza Hotel (NYC), Charles Hotel (Boston), Ritz-Carlton (Montreal), Century Hotel (LA), and other venues just as schnazzy.

    Musical Director, Arranger, Cast Member

    Feb, 1992 - Apr, 2000

'The Big Bang' • A New Musical—Douglas Fairbanks Theatre, New York, NY

Because I was involved in the creation of this hilarious 3-man musical, the role of "Albert" the pianist was named for me!

    Musical Director, Arranger

    Jan, 1992 - Jun, 1992

'Eating Raoul' • A New Musical—Union Square Theatre, New York, NY

With its $1,000,000+ budget, this wonderfully irreverent musical comedy was, at the time, "The Most Expensive Flop in Off-Broadway History!" (oh, the stories I could tell). But now, in its afterlife, the show is a hit worldwide.

Published Arranger for Theatre Music, Band, Orchestra, Keyboards

    Jan, 1978 - Dec, 2000

Hal Leonard, Warner Music, United Artists, Samuel French, Dramatic Publishing, Theodore Presser, Chappell Music

The most notorious of these 200+ published arrangements is "Let's Go Blue!"— a musical cheer written for the University of Michigan—which has by now appeared in nine major motion pictures (among them 'The Big Chill' and 'Remember the Titans') as well as on 'The Simpsons', 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Ed', and can be heard— incessantly—in stadiums and arenas worldwide.
