I teach all levels from a little kid to a competitive pianist getting ready for competitions!

I began playing the piano when I was 3 years old in Japan. I have the Yamaha certification of piano instructor, for which I passed the exam when I was 16. I played in many music festivals held in the city as the pianist since elementary school and competed in many youth competitions. I was diagnosed with tendinitis when I was 15 and I was unable to play competitively after that. However, I still enjoy playing the piano and love teaching the joy of being able to play the piano to let the heart out. It’s relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. My perfect pitch helps me to teach via online. Even if I can't see the students' hands, I can tell by hearing what and how they are playing. It's one of the skills that you don't need to live but is great to have. Learning new skills takes practice, but that's all you need to do. It's actually not that difficult once you get started! In addition, practicing the piano is great for brain development especially for younger children. However, it doesn’t matter if you are young or old, playing the piano is great for brain health and mental health as well. I look forward to working with kids, adults or seniors!

Hello, I am truly enjoying teaching every student of all subjects I teach. I enjoy meeting a variety of students and getting to know how unique each of them is. Currently, I teach Japanese, English and piano. I’m very grateful for all the students I’ve taught. Much as I teach them something, they’ve inspired me, broaden my viewpoints and enriched my life. What’s great about TakeLessons is that I get to meet people I wouldn’t otherwise from all over the states and some are even outside the states! I started my teaching career when I was a college student. In Japan, I taught both English and Japanese to middle and high school students at a private academy. That’s when I realized it was quite fun to interact with students and teach them something so they learn something new and feel excited. I have also taught Japanese to adults, including the spouses stationed in Japan and also at college. I have the Master of Education in TESL; therefore, I’ve taught English more vigorously, but know what it takes to be successful at second language acquisition. I really find it rewarding to teach those who are interested in Japanese language and culture as well. I like to get to know your learning styles and what motivates you. I will cater to your needs and make your own lesson plan just for you. You are not obligated to take lessons here, but you can learn something that can enrich your life if you wish. I give you resources and you can turn them into real experiences. I love teaching and discovering what I love through the eyes of the students. I love to meet new people and just love the people who want to learn something new. It gives you an opportunity to widen your view of the world! I’ve also played the piano since I was 3 years old and have the Yamaha certification; therefore, I teach piano too. I have perfect pitch, which helps me teach via online classrooms. I love to play it of course, but I also love listening to my students play and hearing how much they’ve developed!

My children just had their first lesson with Ai and they really enjoyed it. She tailored the lesson to them wonderfully based on their level and experience. They were engaged the entire time and cannot wait for the next one. We highly recommend Ai!
