Teaching since:

I'm Ahmad a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself guitar at the age of 12. I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and studied music for 15 years receiving my B.M. & M.M in music and audio production at San Francisco State University. I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe & the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam Ash Best in Shred competition.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.

I have 25 years experience teaching kids and adults guitar. Also performing live and in the studio.

*** Lesson Details ***
My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, guitar technique, and theory.

Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.
Also,I do prefer to work weekly with my students.
A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and rest playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.

An intermediate lesson has more focus on music and technique from a specific genre. A specialty is preparation for guitar auditions or doing live or studio gigs.

I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults.

*** Specialties ***
I teach the basic skills very strongly, and also encourage students and challenge them, as well.
I also have new techniques for teaching Electric, Acoustic & CLassical Guitar.
I do prefer to teach a weekly lesson.

Ahmad helped me crack the code and I'm learning and playing guitar with growing confidence.
The lessons are challenging and fun and I'm inspired to practice on my own.

Ahmad's talent and experience as a guitarist, guitar teacher and performer come through in small things such as making sure your metronome is loud enough and with more important items like performance preparation strategies such as playing in front of a neighbor or co-worker.

I only wish I had started lessons sooner!

Ahmad is very energetic and passionate about guitar and teaching guitar to people. He is very organized and systematic in his teaching. His style of teaching enables students to learn and get to know a wide variety of guitar aspects very quickly. He breaks up lessons into short but consumable modules while at the same time giving something concrete to start playing and get going from the word go whether you are a beginner or not. I've been going to him for several months now and would highly recommend Ahmad for his guitar teaching skills!

Awsome instructor with 25 years of experience you can trust his teachings.
2 months went by really quick and I'm learning so much from tuning, strumming, bends, slides, taps harmonics and there's still so much more to learn. Ahmad is here for the long run if you want to shred like him. Take a chance and have fun learning guitar with Ahmad

My 12-year old daughter has been taking lessons for about 6 months now and can already play some songs better than I expected.

She really enjoys lessons with Ahmad, for the following reasons (in her words):

"He's a good teacher because he's really patient."

"I like the one-on-one lessons because it's helping me learn faster."

"He always emails the materials after class."

During the lessons I've watched, Ahmad is indeed patient and professional, yet friendly, during the lesson. He is able to, in an encouraging manner, discuss with my daughter the things she needs to practice, and gives positive feedback about the areas where she is showing improvement.

I would recommend Ahmad if you're interested in learning the guitar!

Ahmad is very passionate about teaching guitar. I've been playing guitar for last 2 year and with Ahmad, I've learnt much more in couple of months than I learnt in 2 years putting me on the Fast track. He has a very structured teaching approach, He breaks down complex techniques in small modules, which enabled me to learn quickly and everything is reviewed in the following class. Ahmad tailored the guitar lessons according to my skills and interests.
He is a great teacher and I highly recommend him for guitar lesson.

it makes a huge difference if you could have a great instructor like Ahmad. You can practice on your own for months without any progress and one day you decide to work with Ahmad, all of a sudden, you are on another level.

Ahmad is an amazing guitar instructor. My daughter is 13 and was interested in playing the guitar. We purchased a guitar, talked to friends about instructors and searched Yelp. We initially took video lessons, but that did not cut it. Actually, it was a waste of time - my daughter needed one on one instruction. I spoke to a few guitar instructors, but chose Ahmad based on his background in guitar instruction and playing. Ahmad provided a good overview in the first lesson and then spent time with my daughter , teaching him the basic chords. In the course of 7 lessons, my daughter can play 21 chords and is also starting to play "Stairway to Heaven". Pretty amazing work in 7 lessons. Ahmad has provided my daughter with a curriculum and also provided us with tips on iPhone apps to use that allow my daughter to stay in rhythm and to tune his guitar. We will continue to have Ahmad teach my daughter guitar. Ahmad has definitely exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend Ahmad as your next guitar instructor.

I've been taking lessons from Ahmad for a couple years and can say he is a very engaging and knowledgeable instructor. Ahmad is experienced in many different styles of music and can help you to play anything you want. He will also show you the techniques necessary to play any song and the theory to go along with it. It's a bit overwhelming, as learning guitar isn't an easy process, but Ahmad is more than capable of guiding you wherever you want to go.

Ahmad was recommended to me by a co-worker but prior to discovering him I researched a few other instructors. Ahmad seems to be quite generous with his time and fees compared to other instructors I researched. He is also very flexible when it comes to teaching venue and will teach at your house if desired.

Based on my experience over the past two years I can highly recommend Ahmad Lee if you are looking for guitar instruction.
