I grew up with a deep love of music, and have performed nearly every genre, from opera/art song (my specialty) to jazz/cabaret, musical theater, and pop. I have performed internationally at venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Red House Theater in Taipei, Taiwan, and the Tanglewood Music Center, as well as in regional theaters throughout the United States. I love what I do and enjoy passing this passion along to my students.
As a teacher, my primary goal is to help each student achieve the most free and honest sound possible. I accomplish this by teaching a sequential and solid vocal technique, which ultimately makes me, the teacher, (almost) obsolete. At the same time, there is always a focus on telling a story and having a bit of fun, too!
In addition, and maybe most importantly, I focus on a gentle and positive approach to teaching. The voice, which is part of the student as a whole, is a fragile instrument, and one which must be handled with the utmost care; thus, I create a nurturing environment while still holding each student to the highest artistic standards.
I look forward to singing with you!
