With my rich experience and comprehensive approach I will help you strengthen your acting technique and make you more competitive in the professional market!I hold an MFA in Acting from ART/MXAT Harvard University, and a BA in Theater and Performance Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. I’ve trained not only with the United States’ leading drama professors, but also with Russia’s preeminent theater practitioners at the top acting university in the world, the Moscow Art Theater School.

*** Lesson Details ***

To me, acting is an accessible, practical craft. It doesn’t require that we commune with otherworldly forces or summon up powerful memories to induce a “performative state,” but simply that we actively express well-articulated emotions moment-to-moment. How do we do that? We identify a character’s given circumstances and desires, and build his or her physicality and voice. Next, we hone our fundamental ability to pursue dramatic objectives. The result is a nuanced, layered performance.

The best actors are those who can become the most vulnerable, both physically and emotionally, to their audiences. Given this, it only makes sense that my training praxis is tailored to your personal progress. Together, we’ll adapt the curriculum I’ve devised to your specific needs; for instance, I’ll teach you vocal production in a way somewhat different from the way I’d teach it to any other student, as your swiftest path to mastery will naturally be unique to you.

We’ll work to strengthen your vocal quality, physical dexterity, text analysis skills, acting technique, and general awareness.

Needless to say, I expect my students to push themselves to new levels-- this is necessary to substantially grow as an actor.

Below is an example 60 minute audition monologue prep session (adaptable to a student’s needs, of course):

10 mins: Vocal & physical warm-up
2 mins: Monologue presentation
10 mins: Text analysis, dramaturgy
30 mins: Work monologue (start/stop), one full run of monologue
8 mins: Clarify analysis, notes

A student who trains with me for 3 to 6 months can expect to develop shaper emotional and technical texture onstage, as well as working knowledge of such techniques as Meisner, Stanislavsky ("As-if", Method of Physical Action), Practical Aesthetics, Viewpoints, Suzuki, Grotowski, Shakespeare, Alexander, and even Stage Combat, should instruction therein be desired. You’ll also build an audition repertoire, expand your familiarity with major playwrights, and learn more about the business side of "the business" (e.g. auditioning, finding an agent or manager, acting resources, building your website, etc.).

Adeola passionately wants her students to find a success story within her class. Whether that personal success is in becoming comfortable with standing in front of an audience or in comprehending and portraying a character's reality, Adeola will help you find progress within yourself and your work. Adeola's energy and drive allows the classroom to be comfortable, yet productive. She strongly attacks the challenge to find easiness and authenticity in acting, which are two important concepts that sit at the foundation of her coaching. Take a lesson and see for yourself where Adeola can take you in your work.

I had the pleasure to work with Adeola through an intensive this summer, and she was truly amazing! She is kind, optimistic, compelling, and she genuinely wants her students and those she works with to be the best that they can be. Her classroom was always an accepting environment where I felt confident and safe enough to take risks without fear of judgement (which is so important!) Her use of the Meisner technique changed the way that I now breakdown scenes when acting with and directing others. She is phenomenal with helping students emotionally connect with their characters, and she challenges her students to be specific when figuring out their characters objectives and tactics. My only regret is that I didn't get to spend more time with her!

Adeola helped me put a few scenes on tape for an audition. She was very helpful with pulling out the best in me for each take. She was patient, kind, and challenged me to focus in and really bring the character to life. I believe she is an exquisite actress and teacher. She has quite the knack for pulling out the best in her students. I highly recommend her for all of your acting needs!

Adeola Is by far one of the best actors I've ever had. Whenever we run scenes, she would give us excellent techniques that really bring out our character. Not to mention, she provides insightful questions that we as actors must consider to truly analyze our characters properly. This way we can have a really authentic performance and improve as actors. Her teaching method is very active and pushes for constant growth as an actor. In my time as her student, I have improved so much and recommend her to any working or aspiring actor.

Adeola is both an incredible actress and teacher. Her work as an actress is nuanced and impactful, as is her teaching style. She has a powerful ability to guide her students to transformational work with her impeccable eye, her specificity, and her ability to communicate in such a way that helps bring the given circumstance to life for them, allowing them to drop deeper into character. Working with her is a truly invaluable experience!

Do yourself a favor and sign up to work with Adeola Role. She has been my absolute go-to instructor for audition prep, scene work, and character building for the last several pilot seasons. Even with me being in Los Angeles she is able to schedule easy, flexible sessions via video chat and they are just as intimate, rigorous, and detailed as they would be in person. I can't tell you how helpful and insightful it is to work with someone who has years of concrete experience in film, television, and Broadway. She knows how to help you make strong character choices and arm you to enter into any audition or professional set with an arsenal of ideas, techniques, and a fully realized character. She's a great listener, filled with unique suggestions and approaches to the work of acting. More than anything she's a wonderful deep soul and a highly inspirational individual who reminds you why you love the craft of acting in the first place. She's the real deal!

Adeola is a fantastic teacher. She’s approachable, intelligent, and a great communicator. She gives clear direction and instruction, and pushes every student to be their best. She works great with youth and adults. I’ve not only become a better actor because of her, but I’ve seen her impact so many young actors.

Adeola helped me unlock more of myself that I did not even know existed. She helped me implement more of myself into the character I was building and to be unafraid in expressing and pursuing my objective.

Adeola is everything a teacher should be. She is supportive and nurturing in the way that she encourages her students to break the mold in developing their characters. She takes time when necessary to ensure that each student has a grasp on what their task is and what their character is feeling in a given moment. She has given me the tools needed to be successful in such a diverse field and for that I am very grateful.

Adeola is a wonderful instructor that I would recommend to anyone who is serious about Acting. She is great at helping you break down a scene into playable objectives. I found she was specifically able to facilitate me to come up with my own ideas that would convey to the audience the story I thought I was already telling in my head.

Addie has a knack for making me feel right at home in my own skin. No matter what the material or how different the character, she somehow always finds a way to get me inside that character’s mind by searching my own personal experience and rhythms. Work with her and see for yourself.
