Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate
The first step is always to get to know the new student a little bit, then find what the experience and goals of the student are. From there, we find the appropriate materials to meet the students needs, introduce them to the student and assess their efficacy, and direction with the materials. Afterwards, it is a process of encouragement and helpful critique to propel the student towards their goals.

Teaching since:

I have BM in Music Composition, have played piano for 14 years, and tuba for 8 years, studying both in my degree. I have played both piano and tuba in solo, accompaniment, small ensemble, and large ensemble settings, providing me with a broad range of experience in music. Although I have specific expertise that applies directly in teaching theory and music composition, it also aids in my passion of helping students truly understand what is happening as they learn to play their instrument as well. From my experience, a strong emphasis in theory alongside technic and repertoire aids students in more quickly and fully absorbing the ability to play their instrument. Music moves past just pushing buttons to play a specific sound and can become an effective mode of communication.
