I lead big bands too!
I taught music lessons across British Columbia for 13 years. My students have gone on to be passionate amateur musicians, professional performers, and band/orchestra teachers.

Adam teaches at a pace I'm comfortable with and in a relaxed atmosphere.
Adam Jone is an excellent music instructor! He works to create an instructional path based on student interests and goals. Always easy going and flexible, he creates an environment for students to enjoy music and succeed in reaching their goals.
Excellent teacher who can easily relate. As an adult learner and a beginning piano student, he has excellent patience and has a knack for motivating you!
Adam is THE best teacher! He has a passion for the bass and the teaching skills in spades.
Adam is doing such a great job with showing me the basics. I know absolutely nothing about guitar and he seems to know exactly how to get me going. I love that he is teaching me the fundamentals like timing and theory. He's super encouraging and friendly plus you can tell he REALLY knows this stuff. Can't wait for my next lesson!+ Read More
My grandson has just started guitar lessons with Adam. I am so impressed with how engaged and patient Adam is with an 8 year old! My grandson loves going there and likes to practice what he has learned. We're hooked!
Adam is unlike any other teacher I've ever had. Instead of having you learn things a certain way, Adam acknowledges that everyone's learning style is different, and he accommodates to whatever his students learning style may be. If you're looking for an easy going piano teacher who is passionate about his work, but dedicated to making the experience fun for you at the same time, I recommend hiring Adam.+ Read More
Great teacher. My daughter is learning rapidly and enjoying it.
Preamble: I've been playing the acoustic, dabbling in the piano, and even picked some on the uke for about a decade now, but never become proficient with the electric guitar and advanced music theory.
Enter Adam: his knowledge and passion for music is immediately apparent and inspires a renewed enthusiasm for what had become a hobby with which I had long since plateaued. After two sessions I've found a new excitement and eagerness to pick up the guitar and attempt the latest drills and methodologies he'd bestowed. The atmosphere he creates in his cozy, relaxed studio is seemingly laid-back and unassuming. I felt an absence of pretension or judgment, like I was just talking with an old friend. But while the hour flies by, I walk away feeling exceedingly accomplished and already anticipating the next lesson.
Adam is a fantastic teacher. I come from a musical background but it has been years since I've played an instrument. He's been very enthusiastic, and super positive during the learning process. I've been having a ton of fun! I would highly recommend Adam whether or not you've ever taken music lessons.+ Read More
I can honestly and confidently say that Adam is the very best music teacher I have ever met. (And I have met a lot of music teachers). Adam taught my son for one year before he moved away and Adam is incredibly knowledgeable, encouraging, kind and can teach to an individual's level and personality effortlessly. Having just discovered that Adam teaches on line is very exciting - in the New Year we will be enrolling in on-line lessons!+ Read More
I am a Band Director in North Vancouver with 12 years of teaching experience. I first met Adam when he offered to do a rhythm section clinic for my jazz bands around 2010. I was immediately struck by his friendly and encouraging rapport with the students, his generosity with his time, and his extensive knowledge and enthusiasm. Later, Adam would be the private bass teacher for many of my students and a superb jazz combo coach - he took the initiative to organize students and their lessons without any direction from me. I was learning so much from Adam's clinics that I started taking private lessons with him as well, to work on my improvising skills. As a classical flutist, I'd never really worked on my improvising in-depth and was growing frustrated by my limitations as a teacher. Adam was able to give me tons of very clear and succinct instructions and ideas that I could apply immediately in my own improvising and also easily pass on to my students. He has extensive knowledge of jazz history and performance practice, too, and was able to give lots of tips on what's appropriate to do when playing in various genres. I grew so much as a musician from his instruction and he always treated me as a respected colleague and peer. I've also worked on some of his original works for jazz band, which are fantastic, and hired him to do arrangements for the bands - he's a fast and clever arranger who understands student ensembles well. Adam is amazing!+ Read More
