I started playing guitar at the age of 12, teaching myself before I moved on to taking professional lessons. At 15, I began performing in front of live audiences with a rock band, and loved every minute of it. Ever since then, I have been performing and recording, as well as writing/arranging music. I was privately tutored extensively in Music Theory, Harmony, Arrangement and Composition. I have played many stages over the years in various cover and original bands, from acoustic to rock, to blues, metal and southern rock. I feel that I can offer much from the viewpoint of a working musician in addition to your basic instrument lesson; from instrument set-up tips, to getting your own sound, to how to effectively use effects and performance tips. Personally, I enjoy rock and metal music from the 50's to present day, and I am a big fan of shred/lead-guitar oriented music. I also personally study and enjoy a lot of classical/medieval/renaissance music styles. *** Lesson Details *** I strongly believe in customizing lesson plans for each, individual student depending on their goals/desires and the styles of music they are interested in. For younger students, I can go with a more generalized lesson plan focusing on basics, good technique, overall music/instrument knowledge and practice habits. I teach music theory in a very hands-on, practical approach that goes hand in hand with learning the instrument in a way that is simple and very easy to understand. Many of my students over the years have repeatedly told me that they progressed more in a shorter period of time when studying under myself than with other teachers they have been to. I don't believe in stringing students along, holding back when a student can handle a faster pace just to get more lessons out of them. I believe and am committed to progress, whether it be fast or slow, depending on the student's comfort level. I have been told by students that they appreciate my humour, and I believe music is supposed to be fun and can be very rewarding, depending on what you put into it. I strongly encourage prospective new students to take lessons at my home studio as I have all of the tools necessary available and on hand at all times, including amps for students to play through, sheet music, copier, computer access, stereo/cd player to play along with, music stands, guitar stands, tuners, cd burner, etc... I will travel to teach at student's homes, but I feel that the lesson experience is much more enhanced when all the tools needed are instantly at hand at a moment's notice. *** Specialties *** All styles of rock, metal, blues, neo-classical, pop. I have an amazingly vast library of sheet music / guitar and bass tablatures available to all of my students covering every style of music there is and there's a very good chance that I already have the song that you would like to learn, and if not, I will get it for you! I have personally studied a lot of medieval-renaissance music as well as classical guitar, and I have a lot of material available to learn from in these styles, however I personally use an unorthodox finger style approach when playing finger style that works for me as opposed to the traditional classical finger style technique, and can teach various approaches. My philosophy is if it works , use it!

Week 4 It's only been week 4 and I'm startin to learn to play songs. As an adult learner I thought I would have much more difficulty but Adam has not only tailored the lessons to what I am interested in learning but is always watching and listening to how I play. He give instant feedback and helps me adjust on the fly. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor to tea h me to play guitar. Thanks Adam for the current and hopefully many future lessons.
