Teaching since:

Hi, my name is Adam Vincent Clay, 29, and I have been playing piano since I was 7 years old, and teaching private lessons for 8 years in Oklahoma and Texas areas. Since childhood I have been fascinated with the instrument, and I have never stopped falling in love with music.

I've worked with students of all ages and abilities (including adults) on technique, repertoire, ear-training, composition, improvisation, music theory, and application. I take a personalized approach with each student, incorporating multi-sensory elements, and educational extra-lesson assignments. This further enriches the students' understanding, appreciation, and application of the material being presented. I want for each student to develop the love and excitement for music that I have, and to have the practical and technical skills to support their musical pursuits.

My experience as an arts organizer and performer will allow me to help you build confidence through your performance, and a relaxed natural piano technique that will allow you to go as far as you desire in the study of piano performance. I am passionate about helping you achieve your personal musical goals while giving you a strong foundation in piano technique for support.

Brookdale Retirement Communities

I have performed themed concerts and background music on a monthly basis for residents of the Brookdale retirement communities in Houston. These performances include preparing new repertoire each month, and performing in a conversational and educational setting to residents of the retirement communities. When performing background music for events, this involves learning many individual show tunes from Broadway musicals, pieces of music from various cultures, themed music for Christmas and Halloween times, and other themed events.

SonderMusic, Dance, & Art

At SonderMusic, Dance, & Art, I worked with young students, including students with disabilities, on beginner music techniques. We built solid foundations in rhythm with clapping and percussion instruments. I worked with students on music composition, and preparing for their recitals, where they performed their own music as well as music from lesson books. Students also learned to play with other musicians through student/teacher duets, and developed solid rhythm and note-reading foundations.

Adam is a fantastic teacher! He teaches for all learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. I've had ineffective teachers in the past because they only related to one learning style. He's great with all ages and his passion for music is contagious.
