About Aaronson B.
I'm a 2015 graduate of Oberlin's Musical Studies program. I took several courses in electronic composition and signal processing, as well as classical music theory and ear training courses. I have been a performing jazz and rock bass guitarist for about ten years, and an earnest composer for about 8. I've been teaching freelance (but mostly just for free) for about 3 years, and I'm hoping to bring what I've learned, as a student and a teacher, to a broader audience.
I can sight-read well, and I can read tabliture. I can help you flesh out that riff you've been working on, or help with part-writing around it. I can talk your ear off about compositional techniques in the works of Brahms, Tina Turner, and Radiohead in the same sitting. But my passion is working with performers who want to learn foundational principles of theory and performance in their idiom, while pushing sonic boundaries with their instrument. I assure you, it's less sophisticated and pretentious than it sounds!
If any of that sounds interesting, definitely drop me a line!
