Over 23,000 currently enrolled students learn what emerging technologies are, different types of bias and common ethical theories and how they can be used to create data driven solutions for emerging technologies.

AIRES International Research Conference on AI and Human Interactions

Chaired the first international AIRES research conference with academic and industry thought leaders from Germany, Ireland, India, and the United States, with a special focus in healthcare systems and human-AI/machine interactions. Manuscripts from the conference have been published in the AI Ethics Journal as a special edition.

CertNexus’ certification development committee for the Certified Ethical Emerging Technologist Exam as a committee member and “Subject Matter Expert” in the field of AI ethics. Participated in designing, creating, and setting the standards for this internationally recognized certification exam.

Artificial Intelligence: A Cross Cultural Perspective - Austria and US

Hosted a delegation from Vienna, Austria at UCLA to discuss the ethics of AI from a cross cultural perspective. Topics discussed included the automation of jobs by AI machines, the use of AI in healthcare and the regulation of AI research. Members of the Viennese Delegation included senior executives of the Viennese Business Agency and government officials from Vienna.

Created, designed, and taught UCLA’s first credited undergraduate course in AI Ethics COMSCI 88SB: Introduction to AI Ethics: An Interdisciplinary Approach under the Computer Science Department and Philosophy Department.

AI Ethics Journal (AIEJ)

Founded the AI Ethics Journal (AIEJ) to bridge the gap between the scientific and humanistic disciplines by publishing innovative research on ethical artificial intelligence (AI). By working at a thoughtful intersection between technology and society, the AIEJ offers unique insights into both the already present and long-term ethical impacts of artificial intelligence on society, culture, and technology. The AIEJ is fundamentally dedicated to facilitating the conversations that are the key to producing holistic solutions. This journal is published by The AI Robotics Ethics Society (AIRES).

AI Robotics Ethics Society

Founded the AIRES as a nonprofit organization that promotes interdisciplinary discussion of the ethical implementation of artificial intelligence through conferences and workshops with leading professionals. The goal of AIRES is to ensure AI is created ethically and responsibly starting at the student level as today's students are tomorrow's leaders. AIRES has now established chapters at UCLA, USC, Cornell, Caltech, Stanford, Brown, and recently established its first international chapter in Brazil at PUCRS.
