About Aaron F.

Professor of Music at Kent State University. Patient and flexible, but also methodical. I am fascinated by the learning process, and I enjoy finding the most effective and enjoyable ways for each student to learn and practice.

My students have earned spots in orchestras such as the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, the Canton Youth Symphony, Cleveland Institute of Music Prep Orchestra, Akron Youth Symphony, the Harvard Summer School Orchestra, and Boston Arts Academy.

If you send me a message, please include the following information:

1) Why do you want to learn music?
2) What types of music do you listen to?
3) What experience/how many years do you have of playing music?
4) What are your goals with music?

I have worked with 4 year olds, up through adults of various ages. As well as being a classical musician, I improvise and teach many styles such as jazz, pop, and rock.

I’m really learning! Three short lessons and I can play a couple of songs. Aaron will take you wherever you want to go with your instrument with your own goals. He is interesting and fun!

Aaron spends quality time with our daughter and goes through material that is appropriate for her playing level. We are extremely pleased with his attention to her positioning and bowing. Great thanks to his teaching to help our daughter to work on skills!

Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

Aaron has a fresh and dynamic way to interact with my daughter. He is patient and, at the same time, precise and attentive to details, such an important aspect to build on basic skills. My daughter likes working with Aaron very much!

Aaron is a talented instructor. He has worked with our son for more than 2 years teaching him cello and music theory. Aaron has the gift of being an outstanding musician, but also the gift of being able to impart that knowledge to others in a meaningful way, such that even young children and teens learn easily from his instruction. We have recommended Aaron to others and he is equally as good with adults. His manner is professional, he takes pride in the accomplishments of his students and is dedicated to the success of his students.

Aaron is a talented, patient, supportive teacher. He brings a passion to his teaching that is most certainly channeled through his love of music. Highly recommend him!

Aaron is a great cello teacher who creatively engages his students in learning. As a performer, he inspired me to play the cello. As an instructor, he plans lessons ahead, but is flexible according to the students' progress. I had two years of lessons with him and he taught me not only to play the cello, but how to work and practice effectively with others in the orchestra.
