As a life long musician, I have spent many years going through trails and errors to learn the instruments I play. This has given me a birds-eye view of the learning process, and helped to give me a strong set of tools that I can use to help others along their path of learning. My life in music has given me so much joy and wonderful experiences, it is really an honor for me to share the knowledge with those wanting to learn.
Although I have a lot of experience in professional settings (I've toured throughout the US and in Mexico, been hired for studio recordings, and produced songs for other artists), I like to keep the learning process fun and interesting. Not everyone has the same goals, so lessons for each student are customized depending on what you want to get out of it- Whether you are looking to learn how to play some of your favorite songs for fun, or if you want to take your musicianship to the next level, I'm here to help :)
In addition to music, I also enjoy shooting hoops or playing soccer, cooking yummy nutritious meals, and spending time in nature.
*** Lesson Details ***
I strive to make the learning process fun and productive. Maybe you (or your child) are trying to learn a new instrument for the first time, or maybe you are more experienced and looking for a way to take your playing to the next level. Maybe you have some experience playing, but want to learn some music theory to expand your understanding of how everything works and fits together. Whatever your situation, I can help you along this wonderful musical road.
For those that are just starting on your instrument, my goal is to show you how to start playing some songs that you like. I like my students to share some examples of their favorite music, so I can "tune" my lessons to music you like and get you playing some of the music that you enjoy listening to! Being that I have a variety of instruments, we can also "jam", or learn how it feels to play with an accompanying instrument (which can be a lot of fun).
If you are an intermediate or advanced student, we will focus and more difficult stuff to play, and our lessons will involve more technique (scales, rudiments, etc), and we will begin to focus in and "trouble-shoot" any area's you're having trouble with. The important thing for me is to put the technical stuff back into a musical context. Learning scales and rudiments isn't much fun if you never learn how to use them in your playing!
I love sharing what I have learned over the years. I look forward to working with you!
