I have been an active teacher, performing musician, studio musician, and composer for the past 15 years. My educational background includes a Bachelors degree in music from Washington University in St. Louis with a focus on classical guitar and composition in 1998, and a certification in recording arts from the California Recording Institute in 2000. I have toured and played with renowned musicians, while my own music circulates through all media. Students can benefit from my extensive experience as a music industry professional as well as an education rooted in Classical music. Playing music is simply one of the best experiences in life. I look forward to sharing this with students of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds.
*** Lesson Details ***
We will focus on why you are drawn to play the guitar and what excites you the most about music. We will spend our first lessons listening to examples of music, and demonstrating how it will not be difficult to achieve our first goals. You will learn the basic fundamentals of the instrument and music theory. After 3-6 months, if you play a lot on your own, you can expect to be able to learn the basic guitar parts of most popular songs. If you are learning classical guitar, you can expect to be playing full beginner level pieces. Although much time is required to master any musical instrument, you will realize that it can be addictive and fun. I am a super nice guy, a patient and laid back teacher, and we will advance at a pace that feels good an enjoyable to you.
