I received my Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music and my Minor in Education from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. While in college I performed with 4 total ensembles, including the premier vocal ensemble for the university, for which I held executive board positions. I am also a member of the international professional women's music fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota. I have been a member since 2007, and while I was in college, I held multiple executive board positions and chair positions. I've been teaching private lessons since 2010, and directing ensembles since 2009. I have a special passion for private lessons because it allows me to personalize my instruction to meet each student's unique needs.
*** Lesson Details ***
I like to create a very comfortable and laid back atmosphere for my students, but I do take my work very seriously. This means my students can expect to learn a lot, and be challenged, but have fun doing the work and practicing. I am here to help my students find or fuel a passion for music and performing.
To help a student develop a rounded repertoire, I use a combination of classical pieces (such as opera arias), musical theater pieces, folk songs, and current popular music. Students can immerse themselves in the songs of their favorite artists and genres, while expanding their musical experiences as well.
My lessons can include a combination of vocal practice and basic music reading/theory. My long term goal is to show each student how to use proper technique when vocalizing, and have them using it across many genres and languages. Another long term goal of mine is to teach each student about reading music and music theory so they can better understand the mechanics of music itself, and develop a deeper appreciation for their art.
Students can look forward to performance opportunities if that is desired.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I bring my own electronic keyboard to students' homes, for lesson use.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide sheet music and a keyboard for accompaniment.
*** Specialties ***
I have specialized in classical voice training. However, I do have experience with opera and musical theater as well.
Extremely happy with Stephanie
Stephanie is a wonderful instructor. She is very reliable and I enjoy working with her.
My daughter Natalie takes singing lessons with Ms. Stephanie every other week and she looks forward to it so much. Ms. Stephanie learned quickly what she needs to work with Natalie on and has figured out the best songs for her recital by listening to Natalie and really working with her. It's amazing what they can get done in only a half hour. We're both very happy with Ms. Stephanie.
