Nic Giordano started playing Bass early in High School playing in Punk and Ska bands. He then decided to continue his studies at SPC, studying Jazz performance and music theory under the instruction of Mark Neuenschwander. Nic also went on to study the Upright Bass and performed with the SPC school band and Jazz Band. Currently Nic plays in a 7-piece Ska Fusion band called UNRB. They perform all over the Southeast along with other big name Ska and Reggae bands. UNRB has won "Creative Loafing's Best of the Bay" awards for 2014 and 2015. Nic is endorsed by Curt Mangan Strings.
During my years of instruction I have learned about many different styles including Jazz Walking Bass, Funk, Rock and everything in between. In my lessons, we'll focus on mainly on what you want to learn to play, while focusing on proper technique and having fun!
*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons will stay pretty laid back, while still staying completely focused on the lessons. All my past and current instructors have this same attitude during my lessons and classes and I have benefited greatly for that kind of teaching. The curriculum will consist of various books that I will choose once we meet after our 1st lesson and I can get an idea of your skill level and what you want to learn.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Bass amp and cables provided at my studio. I am able to provide a bass but students own instrument is always preferred.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I would be able to provide an Amp and any books needed. I would expect any student to at least have an instrument of their own to practice on.
*** Specialties ***
I focus on a more traditional technique of playing, while taking a more jazz/rock approach
For the past 5 years I have played in a Ska Fusion band called UNRB.
Perform in the Pit Band for SPCs production of Godspell the Musical.
