I was a brand new student, with very little experience, trying to teach myself online. When I realized that wasn't working I searched for an instructor and found Mike. He has a very patient demeanor, can play all styles, and most importantly is an easy going and fun instructor. He teaches what you want to play, and I have rather eclectic taste in music...... So if wasn't familiar with a band/song, he has the ability to listen to it and play it right on the spot. Mike has an exceptional ear! You can't go wrong with him, so give him a try! I signed up to play guitar for "The Sound of Music" with Burbank Community Theater, and after I got the music I realized I was way over my head. So, I went to Mike hoping to get a lot of help. He's amazing. First, he sight-read all of my music, which is crazy. Then he was able to simplify it for me so I could play it and still make it sound good. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have been able to do the show. And now that I've done the show successfully I have a whole new range of skills on the guitar and playing the songs I love is way easier.
I'm so grateful for Mike and everything he's taught me!
Versatile, professional, fun guitar teacher
Mike is a fantastic teacher. He really listens to what the student wants to learn and tailors accordingly. Mike knows music theory and plays lots of different styles so is able to accommodate a wide range of skills and interests. He's direct but gentle with his suggestions. I highly recommend him!
I began taking guitar classes from Mike over a year ago - as a beginner. He is really talented, both us a musician and as a teacher. He is always prepared for our class with a lesson plan that is well-designed to take my playing to the next level, and he listens to my interests and tailors the lessons accordingly. I would highly recommend him!

The most gifted guitar player I ever met! I've learned so much from this guy, he pushed me to a new level of creating music, I'm so happy I met him. Amazing patience, understanding, communication and compassion. Best guitar teacher in the biz. knows every style you could want to learn.
Exactly what your looking for.
I took private lessons from Mike at Musicians Institute the entire year and a half I attended the school. I didn't have interest in any of the other teachers because I found out right away how talented and versatile Mike is! He's very soft spoken about it all but make no mistake, he knows everything that there is to know about guitar. I highly recommend him for beginner, intermediate and advanced players. He is also very knowledgeable with recording songs! He helped make one of my songs come alive by adding a very nice harmony over the original riff and made the song feel much better. he knows music theory as well as you could ask from a guitar teacher. From the modes to the circle of fifths and everything in between. He's also very flexible, since my lessons counted for a grade at the school, if I ever missed a lesson he would always make it up with me at a different time without any questions. I promise that you will not find a better teacher for whatever he charges, it's worth it! My $30,000 degree from M.I. tells me so.
