About Dan B.

Hi! My name is Dan and I offer guitar lessons at all levels of instruction. I have been playing guitar for 15 years and have had 10 years+ experience of playing with bands and in the studio. I play almost every style that you can think of, although I specialize in fingerstyle with a thumbpick! This is my favorite style to play because of how fun it is! I have also learned several styles ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughan/Jimi Hendrix, to George Benson/Wes Montgomery, to Steve Vai/Eric Johnson. -I attended Ohio State University's top tier Jazz School for 2 years. I also studied with a couple of the best teachers in the country. -I have played on stage with Tommy Emmanuel, and Frank Vignola (Two of the best guitar players on the planet right now!). Currently, I play for 2 AWESOME bands in Cleveland, work for School of Rock, and also teach several other students. I put 8+ hours a day into my craft. I am a full-time musician and I love it! Music is my life! *** Lesson Details *** Music is all about having fun! If you're not having fun, then you're not doing something right! My goal as a teacher is to get any student playing the best they possibly can. I do this, though, in a very laid back way. I am NOT a strict teacher. I find it very important to let the student speak up and explain what it is they are really hoping to learn and accomplish. When teaching, I focus on acoustic/electric guitar, mandolin, banjo, and Ukelele. I offer lessons that are customized based on the student's interests and skill level. I can help you become proficient in jazz, blues, rock, reggae, R&B... basically any style besides classical. I'm very passionate about playing these instruments unaccompanied and helping others learn how to play in a very friendly, home studio environment. I also have recording capabilities to help track your progress and even make your own recordings. While teaching Acoustic and Electric guitar I focus on styles ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughan/Jimi Hendrix, to George Benson/Wes Montgomery, to Steve Vai/Eric Johnson. I can also help you learn ANY song you desire. I have a computer that can be used for YouTube, Pandora, etc. Teaching from basic strum patterns, to fast single-note lead solos. I am confidant I can teach you anything you desire! I work with all levels, to beginner to very advanced. As for the other instruments - Ukelele - This is instrument is very fun, and VERY easy to play. I can teach most people to play songs within their first lesson! I can focus in on any style the student is willing to learn as well. I teach from beginner to advanced on this Ukelele. Mandolin - Mandolin is a bit tougher than Ukelele, but is also very fun to play. I teach many styles including, blues and bluegrass with this instrument. I teach from from beginner to Intermediate on Mandolin. Banjo - The banjo is the hardest of these three instruments for one reason. You must have a strong right-hand technique to be able to play this instrument. I know how to teach the "claw" fingerstyle patterns that will allow one to pick a sweet banjo! I teach from beginner to intermediate on banjo. My 3 expectations of the student: 1) Please come with an open mind and a positive outlook/attitude! 2) Everybody, and I mean everybody, makes mistakes. Even the best players in the world make mistakes from time to time. While in a lesson, this is the BEST place to make mistakes. You are in a non-judgmental, friendly, learning environment. We will make mistakes together! ;) 3) Be prepared to learn, have a GREAT time and have some incredible jams! I look forward to making some great music together! ~ Dan *** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lessons are taught in a studio with all instruments and a computer (bass and guitar amps, guitars, 1 mandolin, 1 ukelele, and one banjo). 1 dog that is kept seperate. Parking in the driveway. *** There are pictures of my studio equipment on my profile page! *** Travel Equipment *** I have my own car. I provide guitars, amps, straps, picks. I do not expect any equipment to be provided from students. *** Specialties *** - On the guitar I teach every style from blues to heavy metal to reggae, but specialize in blues/rock/jazz and fingerstyle acoustic! - On Bass I specialize in blues/rock/jazz and walking lines! - On the Mandolin I specialize in bluegrass, pop, and country! - On the Banjo I specialize in fingerstyle, bluegrass and country! - On the Ukelele I specialize in pop, and hawaiian styles learning contemporary songs!

Great Lessons from a Great Teacher! I began taking mandolin lessons with Dan about 4 months ago. He is a very experienced and knowledgeable teacher. He has a great studio environment that was very quiet, and he has just about any instrument you can think of there for you! I would recommend Dan to anybody that is looking for professional and enjoyable lessons!
