Simply put, music is my life. I perform, teach, write, and record all the time! Music was always around my house while growing up. In school I played in jazz bands, and outside school I played in rock and metal bands. I then went on to get a degree in classical guitar. I toured with the band 'America' out of college, (oh you know them - Horse with No Name, Ventura Highway...). Nowadays, I perform, teach, record, and write.
I perform various bands in the LA area including an Eagles tribute band, country bands, and the occasional gig with America.
As you can see I have a great deal of experience and expertise in many areas, and I look forward to sharing all of this and more with my students.
*** Lesson Details ***
I like to gear lessons towards learning music the student enjoys, while developing the fundamentals of guitar and music in general.
A brief overview of material covered:
Technique (right and left hand dexterity)
Vocabulary (note choice, music theory, odd time signatures, precision exercises, soloing techniques)
Gear Maintenance (bridge/truss rod adjustment, finding your tone, effects use)
Creativity (backing up a soloist, playing with a metronome/drummer, studio vs live playing)
Professionalism (getting the gig, keeping the gig, touring tricks)
Since every student is different, I approach each student and their lessons accordingly. Whether my students are young or old; whether they view guitar lessons as a just-for-fun hobby; or whether they wish to pursue a serious music career - I am happy to facilitate all of this and more, as we work together to reach their goals.
I try to keep a relaxed environment but I like to make sure we're making progress each week. I like to outline what we go over each lesson and what I'd like them to practice for the next lesson. I am patient with students who have extra needs or want to go slower as well.

Bill is a great teacher
Being a successful artist in the entertainment industry is no easy feat. As a singer, I am constantly looking for ways to improve my skills not only vocally but instrumentally. I sought out guitar lessons from Bill after hearing him perform live. Instantly, I was impressed with his stage presence, versatility, and fluidity. In just one guitar lesson, I learned SO much. His teaching style is effective and not overly complicated. He had me playing chords I never thought I could play. Being able to play guitar comfortably as a singer was always a challenge of mine. Now, I can confidently say I can do both. Thanks Bill!
