My approach to teaching is simple. The primary goal is to have fun and enjoy the experience of making and creating music. Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in music or just wanting to add a bit of a creative outlet to your life, I can help.

My specialties include jazz, r&b, and pop piano styles. I do teach a little classical but primarily to beginners only. My curriculum is simple. I try to teach you what it is YOU want to know and that which fit your needs. There are some fundamentals that we all must learn, but typically I can have you playing a song your first lesson. I'm excited for my next lesson!

I'm extremely happy to have Judy as my voice teacher! Here's why... I assumed I would spend a few months working with different teachers to find a great fit. After reading other positive reviews, I went to Judy first. Halfway through my first lesson, I was convinced she was the right teacher - the entire experience was tailored to my particular strengths and weaknesses. There was no sense of a "canned lesson." As she walked me through a few exercises, she paid very close attention to my (good and bad) habits, and offered insightful feedback. After a few lessons, she had completely changed the way I looked at singing... there's hope for me after all!

She knows her stuff, and it doesn't take long for that to become obvious. I'm excited for my next lesson!

Priyal S.

Smyrna, GA

Teaching since 2008.
Teaching philosophy: I adapt my teaching style to the student's personality and needs. I like to create a friendly and warm teaching environment that helps the student grow and encourages them to question and become independent learners. Something as beautiful as music should not be a chore - I like to change up the lessons every now and then so the student remains engaged and enthusiastic.

About Priyal

Hello everyone, I started learning the piano at a very young age - then went on to graduate with a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance from Furman University, SC and a Master's of Music from New York University, NY where I was also an Adjunct Faculty member of the music department, teaching private piano and group theory classes to undergraduate students. I have been teaching since the past 8 years and have taught piano and music theory in my hometown Mumbai (India), Greenville (SC), New York(NY) and now in Atlanta (GA). I've had the good fortune of teaching a varied group of students tha
t required different teaching methods.
My teaching philosophy is very simple - I work with the students and ensure they are not losing interest in the instrument, and more than progressing - I want them to enjoy what they are doing and learning - progress will then come naturally.
Teaching genres: Western Classical, Popular/Broadway, Basic jazz, Music Theory, Bollywood, Bollywood Dnace

Priyal was excellent!. She took the time to meet and greet with my son before starting the lesson. She started with a quick assessment my child's piano history and skill level before starting the first lesson. She made us feel very comfortable and at home as well. The lesson went great as she reviewed prior lesson material and combined it with new material and different outlooks on positioning and playing. Would definitely recommend!
