About Tiffini

I offer a fun, interactive teaching style that encompasses more than 20 years of performing and 15 years of teaching experience. As a performer I have worked as a professional singer, actor, musician, and dancer. I have always had a passion for teaching, directing, and composing. While my love for performing has lessened over the years, I have found my true calling: teaching, directing, and helping others to find their passion for music and the performing arts. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a special emphasis in music, theatre, dance, and psychology. I am a graduate candidate working on completing my thesis as my final requirement for a Masters of Arts degree in Music at San Diego State University. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor because I was primarily looking for patience. I have a long time fear of singing and singing in front of people, Tiffini is very patient and easy to work with.

I would like to start off with by saying that Tiffini is an amazing teacher. I have been taking lessons with her for the last year and a half through Skype and each lesson in that time with her has been an enjoyable experience. I started taking speaking voice lessons with her then switched to singing lessons. She was able to help me immensely on both my speaking voice and singing; getting rid of my mumbling for former and helping me to regain confidence in the latter. With both types of lessons she was knowledgeable, encouraging, kind, patient, and a fun teacher to have. I could go on for at least a few pages about Tiffini, but bottom line is that she is a great teacher and I would highly recommend her to anyone who wanted to start taking lessons through takelessons.com.

Tiffini is an awesome teacher! We originally met when I performed in a series of youth theater productions that she directed and I began taking voice lessons from her soon after. Tiffini truly cares about her students. She has greatly enhanced my confidence auditioning by helping me select appropriate songs, working patiently on difficult sections of the piece, and providing clear acting support. She also teaches online and is very accessible via email and Skype. She has been an invaluable resource and I'm very grateful to have worked with her.

About Francisco

I was born in Argentina. I began playing bass when I was ten years old, while my younger brother began playing drums. I started taking bass classes, and also formed several bands as a bass player, although the drums had always been sounding in the back of my head. After listening to Tool’s Danny Carey and Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, at the age of 17, I realized the drums were my true love, and began studying the instrument. I continued playing bass in several bands, until I joined the band The Evenfall as a drummer, in 2009. At this time, my family was considering moving to the U.S, and that's when I got the chance to apply to the Berklee College of Music. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2012 with a degree in Drumset Performance. There I studied with the most respected drummers and ...

I took up drums 2 years ago in my early 40's. Francisco was my first drum teacher, and he patiently introduced me to the instrument, exposed me to many different musical concepts and traditions, and really increased my interest in music and drumming. He is an amazing player, and I learned much from watching him play in lessons and also live. Unfortunately he moved from Boston to CA, which was my loss.I reccommend him without reservation.

I took many lessons with Francisco after a period of relative inactivity from playing drums on a consistent basis. I had been playing for years, but had unfortunately become rusty and out of practice at the time. Francisco helped me build my chops back up, and introduced me to new unique concepts in phrasing, approaching grooves, technique, and much more. Francisco's down-to-earth and very friendly personality, combined with his obvious passion for drums and percussion, made every lesson an event I looked forward to. He gave me a lot to think about each lesson, providing me with great musical concepts that can be studied for life. Francisco isn't a teacher who only thrives teaching beginners. As a drummer for several years with lots of performing experience, he still managed to significantly help improve my playing and reignite my spark in drumming. Thanks, dude

About Bijan

Hi! I believe that music is rooted in all human beings and cultures in a reach and vast variety of forms. Music unifies and engages thinking and feeling in a direct and immediate way. Music influences individuals simultaneously on different levels of consciousness and form an important device for learning, recreation, arranging of conscious and unconscious impressions and at the same time for characterizing and conveying ideas and thoughts. This as a point of departure characterizes my teaching philosophy, which strives to create a climate in which my students can experience continuous musical, intellectual, and emotional growth. As a music instructor and musicologist I demonstrate the characteristics of professional and passionate for everything related to my teaching. I am ...

Bijan is a very good guitar instructor. My daughter and I both took guitar lessons and he was able to work with us as individuals since we both had different skill levels. Bijan is very patient with his students and helped us through various learning obstacles. I highly recommend anyone that needs or wants to learn any musical instrument to take lessons from Bijan.

Bijan is a great teacher. Learning to play the cello as an adult is tough, but he's very organized and encouraging. The recital was very anxiety-inducing, but we did really well and I felt a great sense of accomplishment afterward. I am only discontinuing due to distance and time constraints.

I can help you with all aspects of performance from preparation to the actual performance. Song selection, breathing tips, mental preparation/meditation, dress, equipment, warm-up drills, instrument maintenance, and many other important aspects are all considered and addressed specific to the style of music and audience/environment for which one may be performing.

About Cristopher

I began taking piano lessons when I was six years old, but switched to guitar lessons at age ten. Ever since then, my passion has been playing guitar and songwriting. I am a music composition honors major at UCSD. Whether you want to learn to be a guitar virtuoso or you just want to be able to play some songs for your friends and family, I want to provide you with the best information and tools to help you accomplish your goals. I believe in trying to get the most out of the minimum - I want you to get the most benefit out of the time you spend, regardless if you are practicing for thirty minutes or for eight hours. I have had the pleasure of playing, and practicing, with Mr. Cris over the last few years. We actually took guitar class together in high school, and even then, I could tell that he was exceptionally talented. Given his family background in music, and his desire to create wonderful compositions, it was no surprise that he chose to pursue music in his life. Recently I have needed assistance with my songwriting and I have had no hesitation in bringing my work to Cris in order to gain insight into what I may need o do in order to successfully finish my composition(s). He is well educated in music, has learned from many accomplished professionals, and is extremely hard working in his craft. And finally, Cris is very patient, insightful, and motivated, when working, and/or teaching, individuals. I would highly recommend him to anyone of all ages.

One of the problems with musicians these days is a lack of formal training. Cris has spent the last 20+ years perfecting his abilities to teach music. In my opinion, Part of what makes Cris stand out from other instructors is his knowledge and open minded view of different styles of music. A teacher with a diverse musical background is ideal for a student who wants to create a good basis or reach the next level in their abilities. Cris is able to help you learn guitar the right way and set a path that will advance your abilities quicker than most other teachers.

If I had to put what I've experience with Mr. Bruce H. it would be excellent, magnificent, superb, and outrageously good. He is very professional and is very attentive. I did not think I could learn to sing because of my strong Caribbean accent, but the training I received from Bruce- my son said "mummy your voice sound sweet." At that moment I know I had to finish what I had started. If Bruce can make a frog sing and sound sweet- the only word to describe him would be- Genius.

The art of performing is unique and applies to all instruments. Whether students are preparing for auditions, concerts or generally trying to become a more confidant performer; I provide a program that will help them reach their performance goals.

About Amanda

As a teacher, I have had the privilege of working with private students for the past 10 years. It is one of the great joys of my life. My studio currently consists of students of all ages who study cello, piano, or violin with me. As a lifelong student of music, myself, I have been blessed to study under a number of great teachers, including world-famous cellist Nathaniel Rosen, and I hold a Bachelors of Music Performance from Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. I have also had the chance to record cello for film, classical albums (including recordings by Maestro Paul Phillips and Dr. Jack Delaney), and contemporary music projects. In drawing on my experiences both as a teacher and performer, my goal with each of my students is to guide them on a ...

I chose Amanda because of her stellar musical background and because she welcomes students of all ages. As a senior adult beginning cellist with 5 years of violin experience many years ago in elementary and junior high school, I wanted someone to help me get started on a new instrument without falling into bad habits right off the bat. Amanda has been so supportive of my attempts. She has excellent suggestions, makes positive comments, and wants to make sure I'm playing the kind of music that makes me happy. I've very happy with her as a teacher, and would highly recommend Amanda to others.

Amanda is a great encourager! As a mature adult and a beginner, I was a little intimidated, but Amanda makes it easy to learn and she's in no hurry to push me ahead. It is my learning in my time and I appreciate that she doesn't appear to be frustrated at my "learning curve" but rather encourages me and addresses any issues I might be experiencing. Amanda is open to contact throughout the week as well - not just lesson time - if I'm struggling with something specific. Amanda is always on time and prepared to begin the lesson. With just a half hour and a busy schedule, I truly appreciate those qualities. Beginning as a "doubter" I am starting to think that I may be able to do this after all!

Mrs. Amanda is a teacher I can recommend. Since I was an older student (18) when I started, I was nervous about knowing nothing about the cello, but she made me comfortable. With her guidance, I breezed through beginner pieces. It didn’t take long at all to switch from “Mississippi Hot Dog” to beautiful folk songs and classical pieces. One of my favorite parts is that Mrs. Amanda puts together two recitals (springtime and Christmas). I really like the experience of playing with someone else and of playing in front of other people. Amanda Devlin has lots of experience and explains things well. She’s fun and friendly. A great pick.
