*** Lesson Details ***
Classical technique is what I teach. Including breathing placement and musicianship. However that does not mean that I try to turn all my students into opera singers. The truth is you can utilize the classical technique in any genre of music. Trust me it will make a difference in your singing. I would be happy to discuss my methods in more detail. Thank you.

*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Travel Equipment ***
Its helpful if the student possesses a keyboard or piano but if not i can provide one.

*** Specialties ***
I have been both an opera/musical theater performer as well as a pop musician so I feel I am extremely well versed in many performance styles and how to teach them.

Cristina H.

San Antonio, TX

About Cristina

Hello! My name is Cristina and I have been playing drums since I was a child. After graduating high school, I decided to continue to pursue music. For the past 4 years I have been studying Percussion and Drums, first at the University of Houston, and presently, and the University of Texas at San Antonio with plans to finish my Bachelor of Music degree. I specialize in drumset, and percussion instruments such as marimba, snare drum, vibraphone, etc. I also am able to teach marching band percussion and drumline instruments. Along with teaching, I am a gigging musician with great versatility and
experience in many genres of music. Not only am I able to teach basic fundamentals of music such as technique, reading music, styles, etc., I can make learning to be a great musician a very enjoyable process!!

*** Lesson Details ***
My style of teaching is very relaxed and patient. I use real word analogies and use a student's personal interests to help make music easier to understand. I take the time to get to know my students' personalities and interests in order to accommodate their needs. My curriculum would consist of understanding drums/percussion instruments, rhythms/styles/timing, technique, music notation, and performance manners. After 3-6 months of lessons, students will know the basics of what I have listed above. I believe that if you have patience with yourself, that you can achieve any kind of goal. All it takes is a good teacher, faith in yourself, and practice!

*** Studio Equipment ***
2 drumsets, PA

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have various mallets and sticks. I can bring a small drum kit. I expect my students to provide their own mallets and sticks, along with EARPLUGS, and a folder for all of your papers.

*** Specialties ***
Rock, Jazz, Pop, Hip Hop, Country, Tejano/Folk. Very Familiar with most genres.

Cristina is knowledgeable, patient and a great teacher for me. I'm really excited about the progress I've made in just 3 short weeks and I know I want to go as far as I can in drumming.

I'm normally self-conscious and nervous about learning new skills, esp if I feel like I'm not able to be GREAT at it right away. But Cristina put me at ease right away and has helped me to be laid back and patient. That's a big deal.

She's an awesome drummer too.

Neil D.

Boerne, TX

About Neil

I am a music educator of ten years: I have taught both middle school band and choir to at-risk youth, as well as elementary music at a private Christian academy. My principal instrument is the saxophone (which I began playing in 1990), and I play many other instruments. As for my formal education: I received the Bachelor of Music Education degree in 2005 from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; and the Master of Music Education degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA, 2010).

*** Lesson Details ***
My goal is to create life-long musicians...
I focus on the needs a
nd interests of my students, thereby representing all musical genres and including all cultures.
My lessons are structured into activities that incorporate various aspects of music appreciation:
Music theory, music history, music technology, performance practice, etc. (making such lessons comprehensive)

*** Studio Equipment ***
As a musician of 25 years, I believe it is the "musician that makes the instrument", and not the other way around. That is, I do not believe it is necessary to purchase the 'top' brand for your instrument in order to achieve the desired sound. Frequent practice builds skills and results in the desired tones people wish to hear.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I always bring my instrument, metronome, tuner, music stand and stand for my instrument, including lesson materials and supplies.
I expect students to obtain a metronome and to always have their music folder (with ALL music etc.) available for lessons.

*** Specialties ***
All genres, all styles & all cultures! I teach students of all ages--mostly at my home studio, but I also travel to students' homes, churches, and, as an alternative during the Summer only, I am willing to meet with students in the Practice Rooms in the Fine Arts Building at UTSA.

Robin R.

San Antonio, TX

About Robin

I am a two-time graduate of Baylor University. I earned both my bachelor and master of music there in vocal performance. I was a National Finalist for the Metropolitan Young Artist Program and a Finalist for the Houston Opera Studio Young Artist Program. I enjoyed being a professional performer in opera and music theater for many years. I quit traveling and performing when my children were born 17 years ago. I have continued to perform and teach, in a limited capacity, while working in music ministry jobs since that time. My students are professional performers, conductors, teachers, min
isters, recording artists, volunteers in worship ministries, and those who just enjoy studying music but have no plans to make it a profession. I love working with all ages, voice types, skill sets, and all levels of experience. It's this variety that makes my job so attractive. I also play the piano so I can accompany you during your lessons...no need for an accompanist.

Robin is an excellent voice teacher. When I first started taking lessons with him I had a very small, quiet singing voice and was very nervous singing in front of others. By the end of my college career (5 1/2 years), I had gained confidence in myself and my singing voice. I also improved leaps and bounds with my singing and I owe a large part of that to Robin Roewe. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a voice teacher!

I spent five years taking 2 voice lessons a week from Mr. Roewe and watching him teach many others. I we have remained friends ever since. He is incredible. His knowledge of the voice is unsurpassed in the industry. His ability to identify and correct vocal faults is exceptional. But his greatest skills is his ability to connect with his students. to identify how each student learns and adapt his teaching to help them become not only the best vocalist but the best person they can be. I highly recommend him as a teacher and a friend.

Robin is an excellent instructor with incredible experience. You get two in one, a technique expert and an expert accompanist for the price of 1. I highly recommend him to all voice parts of all age. He is kind and respectful, and he cares for the longevity of your vocal health. Under his instruction, I was ranked 1st chair at Tenor 1 for the TMEA Large School mixed All-State choir. If you get Robin, you will have an edge.
