Rosita R.

Los Angeles, CA

I have many years of experience writing songs and even helping singers and musicians all alike to refine songs that they have written. Let me help you formulate those songs you have been dreaming of and make them a reality!

About Rosita

I have been singing and studying voice for over 23 years since I was a child! I hold a Bachelors from Musicians Institute and other accomplished degrees from American Musical Dramatic Academy to conclude my quest for vocal excellence and the ability to sing in multiple languages ( English, Spanish, Japanese and Italian) I have been lucky enough to study with some of the top teachers in the country and now I bring the experience I have gained directly to you!
I am proud to share my student's vast array of musical successes. From being cast on short anime films and musicals to being accepted in
to prestigious performing arts academies to conquering the Karaoke scene. My passion for multiple languages and love of music is the desire driving me to share the gifts for teaching young children to open the door to their own musical abilities and hidden artistic desires. I am currently writing a musical which will be debuting in 2020. I'm currently the vocal coach and choir director at Iglesia Elim Central.

I will make sure my students have fun and help them get in the right track to their musical goals.

Also, I constantly upload videos on Singing, The Spanish Language, and Japanese! So keep Checking in! It ranges on tips and answering the most common questions on those particular subjects!

*** Lesson Details ***
I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them.
then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!

I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals.
With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

*** Studio Equipment ***
iMac, condensing mic...performing mic, keyboard, mixer...living room of apartment.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do have a portable keyboard. Though I do expect the student to have their own recording device and karaoke tracks. At Home I do have a studio, and if the students has an iPod or an Mp3 player I can attach it to a device where all of us can hear the tracks. I do have a recording studio as well.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Musical Theatre, and Pop rock genres. When I teach my students I always have them learn a song of another language whether it's Spanish or Japanese. It helps with diction when they learn a song outside the English Language. Also It helps them to learn another Language at the same time. Also I give them a little anatomy class when they are learning how to sing. I give them a model of the vocal Chords and different areas of the Larynx and which part works for the chest voice and the head voice.

Carl B.

Seal Beach, CA

I've been studying and teaching songwriting for 7 years, and my students and I get excited when we develop a melody or lyric that rolls around in our head for days. The most important elements of a successful song are melody and lyric hooks that are remembered the very first time they are heard by an audience.. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to explore your song ideas, and as time goes on you'll be able to create your own original songs. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels, and I can't wait to meet you!

About Carl

During your first lesson I do a computer analysis of your voice, I find out what your goals are in singing, what your favorite kinds of music are, and I take you in the direction you want to go and show you how to get there in the shortest possible time.

Think you're the only one who feels that terrifying nervousness? Most everyone does, including the biggest stars. The four books I've written on singing are entitled, "SING BETTER FAST", complete vocal technique in brief, "HOW TO CONQUER NERVOUSNESS FOR SINGERS" in which I'll teach you to not only handle, but to direct extreme nervousness
into your singing, making your performance soar. I've also written, "HOW TO GET STANDING OVATIONS FOR SINGERS" to teach you to drive your audience to their feet for a standing ovation, and "ADVANCED SINGING".

I always record my students so that they know how they sound to others. I also make a CD of them singing to background music if they wish, included in the cost of the lessons for no extra charge.

Learn to sing beautifully, and most important, emotionally. Learn the parts of your vocal instrument, How each works, How they work together. Develop Breath support (80% of singing). Learn "The Singer's Formant", that "ringing" sound of professionals. Learn how to conquer nervousness, learn about Resonance, Overtones, Vibrato, How to sing high notes, Learn the "singing vowels", and more.

I would rather teach singing than eat chocolate, and if you knew how much I like chocolate, you'd know my passion for teaching singing. I've been studying voice since third grade, and teaching singing for eighteen years.

I've had nine singing teachers myself, so I know just how you feel. I get you comfortable, and I listen closely to what you want to do and where you want to go with your singing voice.

My students learn all the important aspects of singing right away, rather than drawing them out over time.

I teach beginner, intermediate, advanced, and professional students of all ages.

I teach all styles of singing, including pop, blues, gospel, classical voice, rock, jazz, scat singing, belting, country and western, and rap.

I teach singing in English, Italian, Spanish, and German.

As my singing student you'll have access to the four books I've written on singing: SING BETTER FAST: a complete but concise treatise on vocal technique (It includes a Practice CD with a free recording studio program to install into your computer); HOW TO CONQUER NERVOUSNESS FOR SINGERS, HOW TO GET STANDING OVATIONS FOR SINGERS, and SING BETTER FAST 2, ADVANCED SINGING. These four books are the most current and relevant works on these subjects available today.

My Bachelor's and Master's Degrees are from California State University Dominguez Hills.

Put your singing voice in my hands. You'll love what happens.

*** Lesson Details ***
My introductory class includes a computer analysis of your singing voice, then describes the main parts of your vocal instrument, how each works, and how they work together. It teaches you what a song is, and how to sing a song well right away.

During the first lesson I record every student and play it back, both for computer analysis, and also so the student can hear how they sound to others. Remember the first time you heard yourself in a recording and said, "That's not me!" I'll explain that to you, and why it's so important to record yourself and listen to your recordings.

Your lessons are designed toward YOUR goals and desires in singing, and include specific guides for your between lessons practice sessions.

I also teach how to sing karaoke and impress an audience. I've been studying audience psychology for more than 15 years, and MY ENTIRE ORIENTATION IN SINGING IS TO, "DRIVE YOUR AUDIENCE TO THEIR FEET FOR A STANDING OVATION!"

I record CD's with custom labels for students, with their picture, included in the price of the lessons. You can have a CD of yourself singing for you to to play, to give to your family and friends, or perhaps to sell.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons are in my home studio, with recording equipment which we use to record you in lessons and on CD's, high quality studio monitor speakers that let you sound exactly the way you sound to others, high quality recording microphones, computer, control panel, keyboard, and music stands.

*** Travel Equipment ***
When I come to your location for lessons I bring portable equipment to do a computer analysis of the student's voice, and to record and play back my student's progress for analysis and discussion.

*** Specialties ***
I teach singing in English, Italian, Spanish, & German, in all styles, including Pop, Blues, Gospel, Classical, Rock, Jazz, Scat Singing, Belting, Country and Western, and Rap.

When I first met Carl I told him I love to sing but couldn’t carry a tune. Well he changed that fast. My singing improved to a deeper and more vibrant sound after only two lessons. I’ve now completed the 5 lesson package and the results are nothing short of amazing. Not only can I carry a tune but I do so with a powerful operatic style voice that I didn’t even know I could do. But Carl knew. He brings out the best in you.

Carl teaches you techniques that focus on the foundation of voice development. I learned how to increase singing range and to hold notes. Lessons and exercises are very effective. Carl is a professional singing instructor who is committed to his student’s success no matter what level or style of singing. Now I understand why Carl gets such consistently high ratings. Based on my experience it is very well deserved. I highly recommend Carl to help you achieve your singing goals.

I felt very comfortable with Carl. I was nervous about singing and he assured me that even the best of them gets nervous! He was very patient, understanding, and he means what he says, which makes me at ease knowing he is there to help and not there to give artificial compliments. Extremely knowledgable when it comes to singing and you can tell that he thoroughly enjoys teaching as well as singing himself. I look forward to continuing my vocal lessons with him and excited to see what the future holds in my singing career!

Jaxon W.

Glendale, CA

Here's how I help teach songwriters:

-Chords/Progressions: I help instrumentalists get out of ruts they're stuck in and find new chord progressions. OR if you're new, I'll show you what's out there. I will also show you commonly used progressions so you know what's used. We will analyze successful songs to see what the writer did and then attempt to emulate those ideas in writing exercises
-Melodies: We'll learn what makes a good melody, and we'll write melodies that are good hooks.
-Lyrics: We'll talk about what makes good lyrics and learn to write good lyrics by modeling lyrics after other songs and writing and rewriting your own lyrics.
-Music Business: If you're interested as well we can learn how the music business works for songwriters.

About Jaxon

*See further below for lesson details!*
Jaxon the Guitarist: I am a Doctoral Guitar Major at USC studying classical guitar. I have been playing the guitar for 19 years and teaching for 10. My main style is classical, and due to the technical training I have had since I was very young, it has been very easy for me to learn and master other styles such as Rock, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Country, and other styles of guitar. I have a passion for performing and have played hundreds of solo and ensemble concerts. As a classical performer I was the Oregon State champion in their guitar competition for bo
th 2005 and 2006 and won 4th prize at the Sierra Nevada International Classical Guitar Competition 2014. I have played concerts all over the United States as well as in Spain and Mexico. As a performer of other styles I have played in many bands and have won high school battle of the bands competitions and recently placed 2nd in BYU's battle of the bands 2011. I was a regional finalist in Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" competition as well.

Jaxon the Teacher: I really love spreading the knowledge I've learned over the years about the guitar, bass guitar, songwriting, music theory, and everything music related to my students. I find a huge sense of fulfillment in seeing my students understand and enjoy learning and making beautiful music. I have a high level of knowledge and skills that I am very willing to use to teach students from the most beginner to the most advanced. Former students of mine have achieved lofty goals ranging from making it into a music program at the college level to winning their school's talent show to being accepted into their school's jazz band.

Jaxon is the most motivating as well as competent and friendly guitar teacher my 16-year-old son has ever had, and he has had two previous guitars teachers that were very good.
As a professional in the music industry in Hollywood for a very long time, I can assure you that Jaxon is extremely versatile and knowledgeable in all styles of guitar performance, be it classical, electric rock or blues, and I"m sure many more acoustic guitar styles that I have not heard him demonstrate.
Take it from a music professional......you can't go wrong in having Jaxon teach you or anyone in your family.

Initially, I received the quintessential guitar lessons, complete with classical guitar exercises. I then developed an affinity for classical guitar, but I couldn’t journey further into the style because my training was limited. I can happily say that I have not only been able to overcome my plateau but also found the teacher who can shape me into the guitarist I aspire to be. I’m being taught via video chat but the lessons are nothing short of insightful. Your dedication as a student with Jaxon will take you far. Take the first lesson and you’ll see!

Mauricio is a very talented musician. He's friendly, punctual and professional. He's always more than happy to answer my questions. He was also very patient when helping me choose a guitar for my father. Mauricio is currently teaching my father how to play a Nylon Spanish Guitar (beginner). My father loves his lessons with him and always looks forward to the next one. As of now, he's only had 4 lessons, but he's already more confident. I can also see how much my father has learned and improved in such a short amount of time. We will definitely continue guitar lessons with Mauricio and I would recommend him to any age group.

Mauricio has been a perfect fit as a guitar teacher for my ten year old son who, until meeting Mauricio, was totally apathetic about learning an instrument. The list of discared wood winds, strings, & percussion is long... Now my kiddo looks forward to his lessons because of Mauricio. He practices (during the week!!!), and he walks away from his time with Mauricio with the kind of happy grin on his face typically reserved for video games and nachos. Mauricio is ever punctual, solicitous, accommodating, friendly, and kind. We feel very lucky to have him in our lives and couldn't recommend him more highly to others.
