About Dee

*** Travel Equipment *** Books. Students must have their own instrument (keyboards are acceptable for taking piano lessons). I always council students on brand, quality of instrument they are purchasing before they buy it. *** Specialties *** I have been a public school music educator for over 20 years, and have taught band, orchestra, and choir which enables me to teach many instruments and voice. I also have been a language and reading tutor for over 6 years and have worked with students with special needs for over 10 years. I studied classical guitar with master guitarist, Christopher Parkening, at Montana State University where I graduated with a B.M.E. I also did graduate work at MSU in composition. Dee is a wonderful instructor. She has extensive experience both in the musical field and with teaching. She sets forth a structured easy-to-follow program for practice. She is very personable, inspiring, and gives honest and helpful feedback. I would definitely enjoy having Dee as a teacher again.

Dee has done an outstanding job, taking an old dog and teaching new tricks, like playing the guitar.. I had no music background and thought myself to be tone deaf. But, in 3 short months she has me picking, strumming (several different types) and thumb plucking. I really appreciate her professionalism, upbeat attitude and most of all her patience. Highly reccommended!!!!!

Ms. Fleming is an excellent teacher, patient, encouraging, and working from a
broad range of experience. As a teacher myself (English), I really appreciate those qualities. Her experience across multiple instruments and music genres is especially appealing to me, as I play several instruments and am interested in many types of music. She gives me hope that I can develop some facility on
upright bass, a dream I have had since I was a boy. (Note: Her insights into how to practice are really helpful.)
Carolyn B. Scottsdale, AZ

I have been teaching beginning cello for seventeen years. I teach both traditional western methods and Suzuki style. I have a Doctorate in Music. I am very experienced teaching all ages. I teach out of my home studio in Scottsdale. If you have ever dreamed of learning to play music, I can help you make that dream come true.

About Carolyn

I have been teaching violin, viola and beginning piano for over twenty five years. I have been teaching beginning cello for over seventeen years. I have a Doctorate in Music. I am very good with young students, teens, as well as adults. You can also hear some of my string quartet album on my Classics Unlimited Music site.

Brianna L. Tempe, AZ

I played the cello throughout high school and college. I use the same principles to teach the cello that I do the violin. We focus on correct technique and characteristic sound while developing musicality and a well rounded music education.

About Brianna

I am a recent graduate from the University of Idaho. I earned my degree in Instrumental Music Education and have been teaching privately for 7 years. My main instrument is violin, but I took to other instruments very fast and am very qualified to teach viola, cello, clarinet and saxophone. Before moving to Arizona, I taught many violin students through my own private studio and through the University of Idaho Preparatory Division. My students ranged from ages 3 to 50. I currently teach private instrumental lessons to grades 2-8 at a private school and work at an after school program at a charter school. The majority of my experience is with students age 3 through 8th grade.

James L. Mesa, AZ

We will learn the basics, like reading music, playing scales, etc... But we will also have fun in the process, and play to the student's strengths.

About James

Hello all, My name is James, I'm 31, born and raised here in AZ, and know the Valley very well. I am offering private instruction in music for adults that are just starting out. A little about my musical background: I started out playing violin when I was 8, and played all through high school. I performed many concerts and sectionals during that time. At 12, I started guitar and bass, then piano at 17, and still play them all thoroughly to this day. I'm currently attending school to finish my degree in Music Education through Ottawa University, so during that time I teach private instruction and will continue to do so after school as well. I obtained my AA and AGEC in December of 2014, with high distinction, and am willing to provide proof of that information if so desired.
