"I've known Jamie for a number of years and have called on him intermittently when stuck on a particular scene/monologue or just needing an extra eye. No o
ther coach is able to get to the heart, not just of what's going on, but in helping me tell MY VERSION of the story. He's not afraid to tell you when you may have strayed too far in an interpretation, but ultimately he is able to help you find something you can really call your own.
James is able to get you there though a wonderfully diverse set of channels. He can work with you on voice or movement or simply getting something into your body. But he also knows how to get into the complexities of all kinds of text. It makes sense, he's not just a coach, but a successful working actor as well!
Not only this, he's one of the loveliest people you will ever meet! I'd recommend Jamie for anyone looking to get stronger on a piece in particular, or on a specific area of your acting in general!"

"Julia was my college audition coach to get into acting school, and I am confident that she is the reason I got into the schools I did. I met with her on S
kype once a week for about a year/year and half. She coached me on all of my monologues and even gave me acting coaching on songs. She helped me find almost all of my monologues, and was particularly helpful in coaching me on scansion and Shakespeare! Not only did she do all of this, but going through the college audition process herself and being trained at Juilliard, she prepared me for what to expect before I went in to my first audition. She is an absolutely wonderful teacher and would highly recommend her to anyone going through this experience. I am now a Sophomore Acting Major at Syracuse University which was ranked the number 8 acting school in the world this year. I also got into drama schools in Europe. Thank you Julia!! <3"

She knows her subject very well, has materials that are relevant and in support of the lesson that she has planned for the class. Her knowledge of the subject indicates that she has a thorough understanding of the subject matter in addition to personal experience. She is punctual and thoroughly professional.
Alexa demonstrates enthusiasm and concern for each student who is seeking a different or new path. She will be an asset for any position that she may seek to explore
Heralded as "a smart, tasteful, and genuine singer" and "a consummate multi-instrumentalist," Matthew continues to perform and broaden his range of musical experiences through diverse engagement in both the classical and non-conventional realms. Matthew has had the great privilege of performing around the world and working with some of today's brightest and most acclaimed singers, ensembles, and conductors such as Leon Botstein, Dale Duesing, Karen Brunssen, James Hall, Warren Jones, Phyllis Hoffman, Pro Arte, Canticum Scholare, and VOCES8.
As an educator, Matthew's 10+ years of teaching e
xperience in voice and drums has brought him to work with young musicians of all ages and skill types. Matthew's approach is technique driven, while at the same time, expressive, musically sensitive, and fun! Matthew's voice students will learn English and foreign language diction, ear training and sight-singing, proper posture, stage presence, confidence, and healthy vocal production suitable for all styles of singing. Drum students will learn the importance of snare drum rudiments, how to read drum charts, the nuances of various styles, as well as, develop dexterity and increase muscular function and independence. Matthew currently teaches voice and theory at Wyoming Seminary Institute in Wilkes-Barre, PA during the Summer, teaches voice at Fairfield School of Music, and owns and operates a full service analog and digital recording studio.
*** Lesson Details *** Being a musician is exciting, challenging, and of course, rewarding. Musicians are communicators; instruments of expression. I'm a firm believer in diligent practice habits and learning the fundamentals of one's craft. From there, the music can happen.
I offer a relaxed, comfortable learning environment that is both fun and productive. A stuffy, tense atmosphere promotes timidness, and insecurity, the opposite of the environment I foster in my studio.
Whether you're a beginner with a passion, or a professional looking to fine tune your proficiency, I can help you get to where you want to be. Diligent, concise, uncomplicated, and fun! That's how I teach.
*** Studio Equipment *** Various keyboards, full 5 piece drum set, full production and recording facility, music scores/sheet music
*** Specialties *** Classically trained vocalist, but can teach all styles and genres of voice. Recording engineer & producer. Versed in many styles of composition. Session drummer.

Really loved my lessons with Matt - from the get go even though he had a super busy schedule he was able to squeeze me in (because I had wanted to work on a project initially that was time-sensitive). He is very knowledgeable about techniques and I learned a lot about what the foundations of singing (starting as a complete beginner) - and feel a lot more comfortable and confident singing after. Matthew is also easy going and pleasant and happy to work on a variety of things (or one thing over and over) and so it's also just fun to take lessons with him! Wish I could continue and get even better but I have to travel soon for work for a period of time - hopefully when I'm back I'll get back to this!

Hi! My name is Barry and I have been teaching for over 10 years in the Fairfield County, CT area. I have had success teaching all ages, styles and abilities, from the most gifted to the physically impaired. I grew up listening to a tremendously wide range of music, and have studied classical flute, rock, jazz and classical guitar, and even the japanese shakuhachi, with some of the great minds of the instruments. I graduated high honors from Queens College with a Masters' in composition, and have had works performed by major acts in the contemporary classical scene. In jazz, I have shared the s
tage and recording studio with the likes of Marc Ribot and William Parker; I have quite a bit of experience as a performer that I bring to my teaching. My passion for music is addictive; I have turned the least motivated students into consummate music lovers. My goal is to find a student's personal musical voice so they have the opportunity to discover where THEIR musical passion lies. Whether it be country, rock and roll, or classical, the long term goal is to both teach the student what they love, as well as expand their musical horizons to discover things they may never have thought they would love.
*** Lesson Details *** I teach in a fairly laid back style with an emphasis on technique, theory making the most of your practice time. Starting with a set curriculum, the material moves into more student chosen songs as the lessons progress. The idea is to communicate the connections between music with the goal of expanding the students ear and teaching them to listen; not just in music but in every aspect of life.
*** Studio Equipment *** room in basement piano, drumset, mixer seating for parents
*** Travel Equipment *** Students should have their own instruments and amplification for electric guitar, music stand and place to take lessons in their home. If they don't, I am knowledgeable of the local music stores and can recommend places to either buy or rent instruments. I provide practice sheets and curriculum.
*** Specialties *** In general, for each instrument I teach I have a cirriculum for the primer/beginning level. Once that level is reached, the direction becomes more student driven; that is if the student responds to classical music (for instance), we will focus on that. As the students interests change, the lesson development changes and the student grows as a musician. That being said, I am primarily a classical pianist, and a jazz/rock guitarist/drummer. While I am a classically trained flautist, much of my gigging and recording experience is with rock bands.

Very good experience.
Barry has great patience....I enjoy my lessons, but I don't always practice as much as I should so I'm not as good at this as I might otherwise be. He makes the learning experience very worthwhile. It makes me want to stick with it. He definitely gets an A+!!

My daughter has been taking lessons with Will for just over a year. I am amazed by the progress she has made. The goals she set a year ago were easily attained with Will's guidance and training. In addition, he is incredible flexible, kind and compassionate.
We look forward to the growth we know our daughter will achieve in the coming year working with Will.

Roberta is amazing! I went to her for a little more than 3 years for voice (and piano for a little bit) and she is very helpful, skilled, friendly, knowledgable, and fun. She helped me get into my top choice college as a choral music major with a full tuition scholarship and supported me the entire way. Roberta knows how to work with any voice with any level of experience of any age. Not only is Robera a fantastic teacher; she is also very understanding and a great person to talk to. I would highly recommend her to any student in the area.

Hello! I have been teaching the fundamentals of classical singing for almost 6 years now and I have received both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in vocal and opera performance. I promote a fun and healthy learning environment and make sure that my students learn the singing fundamentals that I believe to be the most efficient and artistic. I teach classical, jazz, and musical theater styles of singing, and I also teaching beginning piano.

Alec is the best singer and teacher I've ever had the pleasure of working with. He totally knows how to make you feel comfortable and really knows what he's talking about. He also has a very good way of using analogies and visuals to help describe what you should be doing with your body, which makes it so much easier to get in the right voice. After one 2-hour lesson with him, my singing improved drastically. He has a lot of good insight and anybody who's serious in getting better at singing (regardless of genre) should really consider taking lessons with him. I hope I can keep doing lessons with him, going to try to continue via online.
