"one of my best instructor
Corbin is one of the best teacher i have had when it comes to acting. he was very professional and i learned a lot from him, in
my very first week. I took twelve lessons with him and i must say, he's a very great teacher. At the time i was taking classes with him, i was actually taking lessons with someone else and trust me, i can't even compare the two experiences because Corbin was far better than this other instructor, in terms of knowledge and teaching skills. i had the option to take my lessons online but i chose to take it at his home. His space is very big, warm and he was very welcoming. Oh did i mention that he communicates very well, every time i sent him an email, he got right back to me. If you are someone thats looking for an awesome instructor, someone that will teach you what you need to know, and get your money worth? Corbin is the one. i got a little experience on his accent reduction although i was an acting student. Corbin was not one of those teachers that would rush you out as soon as your lesson was over, he made sure i was comfortable and understood what was going on, every time. unlike some teachers thats always clock watching. I am definitely going to take more lessons with him."

"I booked 4 acting sessions with Ms. Ollie for my daughter. Ms. Ollie did a phenomenal job starting from scratch, coaching my daughter for her up coming au
dition. My daughter had no acting experience, she was shy, and soft spoken but in just 4 short days, Ms. Ollie turned her into a confident, outspoken young actress. My daughter nailed her audition thanks to Ollie!! I will highly recommend her as your acting coach."

"Stephen has been giving our teenager daughter weekly lessons in "J-pop" dancing. Even though his background does not include this particular style, he has
done a great job of staying ahead of our daughter, and-even more importantly-encouraging and motivating her to keep at it. (Since dancing is one of the few exercises she will do willingly, this is key!) She looks forward to the weekly lesson and so do we."
I am a professional singer, songwriter and actor working in the Chicago area for many years. I have a B.F.A. in Theater/Voice from The University of Kansas and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. I've been teaching private vocal instruction since 2003: I host the Singer's Salon in Chicago, a unique and supportive venue for singer's to become more comfortable performing before an audience. I also instruct workshops for vocal technique and performance. For 10 years I was the lead singer for The Red Apples, an acoustic/electric roots band that performed an eclectic mi
x of rock, swing, blues, country and jazz. Within the past year I have re-energized my theater and cabaret career, appearing at Davenport's Cabaret, in a new solo show, as well as productions at Big Noise Theater and Stage 773. I've also completed two short films and started working on my own web series, about my life as a singer/voice teacher. I also have an art song project consisting of original material with composer Jaroslaw Golembiowski. As a singer and actress I have performed with many major theaters in the Chicago area, including Court Theater, Victory Gardens, National Jewish Theater, Bailiwick Theater, and Prop Theater.
*** Lesson Details *** As a classically trained singer I will instruct you in all aspects of singing technique, from breath control and support to improving your tone, range, flexibility and resonance. I have recently completed training in Somatic Voicework, The LoVetri Method, which has enriched my understanding of the mechanics and health of the voice, as well as applications of technique to CCM or contemporary musical styles of singing. My familiarity with a variety of musical styles from pop/rock, R&B, and country, to musical theater, lounge and jazz makes me an ideal teacher for those interested in contemporary styles.
I have spent many years developing my own style of singing and instruction. I draw on my experiences and training not only in music, but theater and movement, (Linklater, Alexander Technique, Grotowski) to create a well rounded approach to singing and performing. As an instructor, I am most interested in helping students find their true voice and artistic style. I teach students to find expression through and with a foundation of technique, rather then in spite of it. I also am very interested in helping students deal with the mental/emotional aspects of performance, an all important area so frequently ignored by music teachers. My style is nurturing, yet disciplined, and sprinkled liberally with good-natured humor."
*** Studio Equipment *** My studio space is fully equipped with a piano, P.A. system with microphones, CD, MP3 player for tracks, and ability to record lessons if the student desires.
*** Travel Equipment *** Please have a piano (in tune!) or keyboard for use in your in home lessons.
*** Specialties *** I am classically trained, but I am very adept at teaching music in a wide variety of styles, including most contemporary styles of music including pop/rock, roots, swing, jazz and blues, country, r&b, and of course musical theater and cabaret. My band performs an eclectic mix of originals and covers in the roots rock genre, and I write music as well. I have many years of experience in the theater as an actress, and I coach acting technique and performance. I coach singer/songwriters, and all types of singers, of all ages. I have a workshop that specializes in helping people learn to perform better in front of an audience, and I host the Singer's Salon in Chicago, which is a supportive opportunity to perform regularly! I also coach bands, to improve their vocals, harmonies, etc.

Working with Wendy was an immense pleasure. I've had various voice instructors and music teachers over the years and she was the first who was able to explain things in a way that I could understand. I had a lot of personal breakthroughs regarding registers and my vocal habits, and I found some new favorite warmups! My voice felt the most versatile it ever has whilst under her instruction. She was also very helpful and willing to work with me and my wacky schedule. In addition she's just very kind and lot of fun to work with. I would not hesitate to work with her again.

I feel there is a great deal of talent in the youth of today, and that it is my job to provide a knowledge and understanding of how to best use that talent. I try my best to provide a comfortable atmosphere to help my students to develop, refine and heighten their talents. I love to teach performance techniques in voice, music, dance, and various other fine arts activities. I have been an aspiring performer my entire life and have enjoyed every learning experience I have come
across. It is because of this that I feel I can help you reach your full potential. It is my goal to share my passion for performing arts with others so that they might become excited about their potential and future. I hope to empower others with the knowledge of using there instrument properly and efficiently so that they may utilize their talents to their fullest potential. Through lessons with me my students will enjoy and flourish in using their talents and become confident in doing so. Both learning and performing should be fun and exciting and that is what my students should know, that I am here to have fun and to help you embrace your natural talents and use them with ease and comfort. What sets me apart from other teachers at Take Lessons? Well, I am here to help you find how you learn best and what you feel most comfortable with. Though I am your teacher, instructor, coach and I am also a fellow performer. I understand that everyone learns differently and I try to take various approaches to help the student get the most out of each lesson. I encourage my students to be open and honest with me about each aspect or their lesson so that we can, together, tailor a lesson plan that best fits each individual.
I am also CPR/AED certified- this is just one way to make sure your child or you are safe while taking lessons while me.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons are designed to better the performances and techniques of a singer, dancer, or actor. Techniques such as breathing, diction, pitch, tone, posture, rhythm, smoothness, and stage presence will be practiced. I do my best to develop lessons that are tailored to each student based on their individual needs. Lessons start simply with gentle vocal exercises based on humming and open vowel sounds. Each student can expect to be challenged through exciting a stimulating exercises. I also teach techniques to improve posture, poise and vocal performance. I enjoy using simple scales to improve pitch and volume while also working on clarifying the students voice. A students performance, whether they aspire to be a performer, teacher, or just enjoy performing should have a positive self portrait of themselves. We will work on building confidence so we as performers can take pride in ourselves and what we represent. My students are expected to practice outside of the lesson. I also encourage them to keep a practice journal of when and how long they have practiced. It helps the students to trouble shoot areas of their performance and take the opportunity to ask questions during the next lesson. My students and I will strive to - To develop an understanding of basic music theory. - To take responsibility for their musical and vocal growth. - To reach for improvement and not perfection. - To work on the memorization of a performance. - To try their hardest with each lesson. - To come to each lesson with an idea of what they would like to achieve. - To constantly sing correct pitches and rhythms in all songs/performances. - To practice correct posture and breathe support. Most importantly, - To enjoy their performance and learn to embrace the natural talents they are given.
*** Studio Equipment *** I work from a loft apartment, consisting of an area next to computer with a home recording studio area for music and keyboard. There is also seating for parents if they desire to attend lessons.
*** Travel Equipment *** I highly suggest the student have their own keyboard/piano. I do have a keyboard and music along with theory books and lesson plans, but would expect a quiet work environment for the student to pay attention.
*** Specialties *** In dance I am well educated in every area but my strengths include: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Modern. In vocal performance and technique: Opera, Musical theater, Lyric Soprano and Alto Music: Classical, Contemporary, Rock, Pop, Christian, Country, R&B, Hip Hop

I was very lucky to have found Kelly. I had always dreamed of having artistic talent but I am not a naturally good singer. Within two years, I have gone from singing in the shower to having developed to stage performance. Kelly has taught me so much from the artistic expression of singing to the mechanics of turning my voice into an instrument. She has an incredible ability to listen to my voice and pinpoint the exact adjustment I need to make it sound great. She's such a fun person to be around that I always look forward to my next lesson. Her positive attitude and approach is also a testament to her high level of professionalism. She provides feedback that is positive. but also helps me improve She is the perfect combination of teacher and coach and I would highly recommend her for anyone interested in singing.

Kelly has been my 15 year old son's acting instructor for the past three years. Kelly's broad knowledge of acting techniques coupled with her engaging and fun teaching style was a BIG win for my son's self-confidence. Kelly's can do attitude and positive outlook is contagious. She inspires you to want to improve your craft; having fun in the process. Kelly taught my son techniques that are useful in all aspects of communication; skills he can take into his adult life. I would recommend Kelly to anyone who is interested in acting, improv, public speaking or an overall tune up on how to read and respond to social situations. Thanks Kelly!

Miss Kelly has been an incredible help to my daughter in learning valuable vocal techniques as well as helping her learn music theory and helping her prepare to study music in college.
I have extensively studied vocal performance and opera for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master's in vocal performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I have studied other vocal genres, such as jazz, rock, and pop. I have previously taught at The School of Rock in Indianapolis Indiana. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. Several of my students have recored albums and are currently performing all over the U.S.
I have a bachelors degree in biology with a minor in art. After graduating college, I was a full
-time high school biology teacher, volleyball coach, and director of the school musical. As a high school teacher, I learned first hand the kind of pressure and expectations that are placed on students in order for them to succeed. In college, I was the head student researcher on a two-year lab project. I took several upper level science courses including: biochemistry, calculus, organic chemistry, calculus based physics, cell biology, anatomy, and physiology. I studied marine biology in the Virgin Islands and am CPR certified.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice lessons with me are fun and effective. You can expect to hear improved technique from day one, eventually reaching your long term goals. I begin every lesson aligning the students voice through various vocal warm ups and exercises. We then work together to pick repertoire that will suit the singer's voice and they will enjoy singing. During a lesson we will also cover performance presentation, acting, diction, rhythm, musicality, style, and interpretation.
During tutoring you can expect a personalized plan based on your goals and aspirations. Since every student is different you can be assured we will come up with a plan that is designed just for you. I am a laid back tutor but will be sure to get the most out of you after our time together. Most students see at least a one letter grade improvement. My main goal for every tutoring session is student learning and comprehension.
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano, recording equipment, large collection of sheet music
*** Specialties *** I specialize in helping students find their true singing voice.

I've been taking lessons from Benjamin for about 6 weeks now, and it has been a great experience. He especially helped me prepare for a performance while I was battling a cold. He gave me useful techniques and advice on how to get through the sickness without hurting any of the mechanisms used in singing.

Great job and looking forward to booking my sons next session...
I am a voice instructor living in Chicago. I am in my mid-twenties and have been hired to sing with regional opera companies around the Chicago. I am originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin but have received my Masters in Music Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Familiarizing myself with my surroundings has always been my best way of learning. Context has always provided me with a good base of knowledge to grow from. This is how I believe teaching should also be. Being aware of where a person comes from, why they surround themselves with what they do and noticing how they
can relate to you are important factors for me as a teacher. As a student, I pursue knowledge to the most intimate detail and try to find related information to form a proper conclusion about any topic, whether it is writing, music or trigonometry. As a teacher I aim to speak using the vocabulary that my professors impressed on me. I hope adjust my terms and concepts in a logical and digestible way for each of my specific students with regards to their strengths. I believe that it is vital to treat each student with respect, confidence and encouragement at an early stage and provide proper motivation for a student at a more developed stage. I like to teach on an even level with the student by doing the same exercises alongside them. My teaching has always been organic. I provide knowledge to nearly every person I am familiar with; whether it is a weather forecast or an upcoming film that I researched. My need to express knowledge comes out in a useful and colorful way. I relate different sources to whatever I encounter in life and I choose to link that knowledge to my daily interactions in a spontaneous and rewarding way of life. As a teacher I choose not to shield any of my personality from my students, seeing as the student is the one that is the most exposed and humbled in the classroom. I teach this way because I am still searching for another way to impart my knowledge. I know that my way of teaching works for those people I have previously taught but I want my way of expressing information to be individual and universal. I know that I cannot possibly be the perfect teacher to anyone and I hope that someone continues to humble me as I develop. I understand that I teach the way I do because I have important knowledge that should be shared with the world. I also know that I teach the way I do because I have the tools to teach anyone as long as I put my mind to the task. I am to understand my students fully and commit myself to their education.
There is no such thing as talent. You simply need love and passion for what you want to achieve. My main focus is to get you excited about learning new things!
I am a professional software and web developer who is a chess expert and competes in table tennis tournaments on the weekends! There are many things I love doing but I am most passionate about meeting new people and getting them excited about learning new skills. I love waiting patiently and experiencing that moment with my student where they have their "aha" moment!
I have mastered skills in many different fields. My best skill i
s my ability to clearly communicate my ideas with the student and help guide them through their problems patiently. I have been coaching most of my subjects for over 6+ years now.
Whether your goal is to improve academically by getting A's in your classes, land that perfect job, or improve in sports, I am able to help you in your academic, professional, and athletic pursuits.

Qazi is a serious tutor; I like that about him. He is also very intelligent. What I like about Qazi is that he balances the simple and the complex very skillfully. We reviewed terminal commands and started with Python. He knows his stuff but he doesn't brag. He lets the results speak for themselves. I am proud to be his student.

I have been working with Rafeh for 6 months and the results are far better than I could have imagined. When I started, I was a total programming novice. I began an online Coursera class in R programming and Rafeh’s help was the only way I could have completed it. He is a flexible and patient teacher. I found that he was committed to my full understanding of foundational concepts. He was not merely concerned with getting the answers right and getting through the class. Together, he guided me through several online courses using both Python and R. He has given me enough of a programming base to be accepted into a master’s program for analytics. This wouldn’t have been possible without his help.
Rafeh is a pleasure to work with. He has a friendly demeanor and is flexible with his scheduling. He is very knowledgeable in computer science, yet is able to explain to a total beginner. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
