Leandria L.

Nashville, TN

Experienced Violin teacher of 7 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of basic skills, I especially emphasis learning to read music. I specialize in classical and jazz, and typically use Suzuki books, along with other books with songs/pieces that the students is interested in learning.

About Leandria

Born in Huntsville Al, Leandria L. received her Bachelors from
Tennessee State University with a Commercial Music Performance Degree, since then, she has traveled to Europe to play in work shops and concerts, she's had the opportunity to played for gospel artists Kirk Franklin, Kurt Carr, and Tye Tribbett, and has just finished up her first year of teaching music in a classroom. Her most recent teaching experience was Kids On Stage Academy, where in one week her students learned how to read music and how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Her love for the arts keeps her love for teaching al
ive.

*** Lesson Details ***
Leandria is a laid back teacher but loves to see her students’ progress with their music. She uses the Suzuki method, but believes it’s very important to for her students to learn the basics of the instrument, how to read music and at least 2 songs within the first 3-6 months. In a typical lesson they would start with a scale---saying the note, saying the finger number, and then saying both--- then they would work on which ever piece is their focus at that time, and then they would bow to each other dismissing the lesson.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Their own instruments and music stands.

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki, however I think it is extremely important that the student learns how to read. I use my own method to ensure this.

Leandria is amazing! Not only is she an amazing teacher but she is a wonderful person as well. She is so personable and truly felt like a friend to me. I was amazed at how fast I was learning and was having so much fun while doing it. She taught me the basics and foundations and she also taught me to play some fun songs like beyonce's Halo song as well! We would laugh and say we were channeling our inner beyonce. She adapts her teaching style to your learning style and really makes the most of each lesson. Unfortunately my life recently got a little chaotic so I had to put my lessons on hold for a while but when I continue back up I will definitely be going back to her. You can't find a better teacher than Leandria! I would highly recommend her to all people and age groups!

Hi! My name is Rivka,
I'm currently living in Franklin TN, but I grew up in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I'm fluent in English, Dutch and Spanish. If you're interested in learning Dutch or Spanish, I mainly focus on the conversational side of the language, but for intermediate/advanced students we can always focus more on grammar.

I use the suzuki method for my violin lessons, students will learn to play by ear but learn to read music.

Hope to hear from you!

Lauren D.

Nashville, TN

Do what you love,
love what you do,
and do it with all your heart.

Love music? Want to learn more about it and have your fine fingers in a fiddling frenzy? I cannot promise a 12-day boot camp with virtuosic results, but what I can promise is a teacher who is dedicated to her craft, and will pour into you her passion every step of the way.

Now, let’s get to jamming!

About Lauren

Lauren D began playing the violin at the age of six, starting her studies with the Suzuki method in Aurora, IL. She moved with her family to Vero Beach, FL, in 2007, and studied privately with Linda Spiwak while pursuing other local musical opportunities. In 2008, she won the Yeehaw Junction Fiddle Contest. In 2013, Lauren graduated from Vero Beach High School, after serving as concertmaster of the Vero Beach High School Orchestra for two years. As a dedicated violin student, she won three concerto competitions at VBHS. In addition, Lauren was involved with the Treasure Coast Youth Symphon
y during her senior year of high school, from whom she received a grant and scholarship. She attended Eastern Music Festival in the summer of 2011, where she worked with virtuosos such as New York Philharmonic concertmaster, Glenn Dicterow. During her time in Vero Beach, Lauren launched and promoted "Random Acts of Music", by busking around town and playing for various businesses and outdoor restaurants within her community. Lauren was the leader of the classical string quartet, “Seaside Strings” her senior year of high school, which regularly performed for weddings and charitable events, and folk fiddle trio, "Elle & the Rootabega Boys". In 2012, after attending the concert of nationally acclaimed violinist, Elmar Oliveira, Lauren was referred by him to study with his violin student, Anna Tsukervanik, who well prepared her for various auditions and performances. Throughout her high school career, she hosted a series of "jams" in her home, teaching students fiddle tunes and allowing for musical interaction outside of the competitive classroom environment. Lauren also worked closely with the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, and assisted in bringing a group of high school orchestra students to concerts, where they would volunteer to feed the musicians and interact with them before the performances.

Lauren is currently a student at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, studying as a Classical Violin Performance major. She is a member of the Belmont Symphony Orchestra, and studies with Juilliard graduate and protege of Dorothy Delay, Elisabeth Small. Lauren aspires to continue in her pursuit of mastering her instrument, and make a career of performing in chamber ensembles. She hopes to continue the legacy of the musical voices before her, bringing her passion for music and performing to cultures around the world.

Lesson Details ~

The first lesson will consist of establishing professional contact between student and teacher. Student repertoire will be determined during this time, based upon current level and initial results. **Because of this, only 50% of rate is expected for the first lesson.**

Lesson schedule may vary, depending on convenience of both the student and the teacher. I will always try to be flexible with your schedule. Please just contact me with interest, and we will figure something out that works.

Lauren is an excellent instructor. Before we began lessons Lauren spent time asking what I wanted to learn and where I hoped to go with the violin. This enabled her to direct the lessons to my goals. She developed lessons that were both fun and challenging at my skill level. I felt I improved each week. Excellent teacher.

Introduction to Violin Music Notes
The violin is often considered by musicians to be one of the most challenging instruments to learn. Its roots trace back many centuries and it was clearly a definitive instrument in shaping classical music all over the world. One of the reasons it is considered a difficult instrument to learn is that it's a fretless string instrument, making violin music notes appear to be inexact, yet fingering must still be done with precision. The reward for learning this sweet-sounding elegant instrument, ho
