Piano is a great instrument for all ages, and is a good starting place for any musical journey!
I am an experienced major label recording artist and piano teacher of 26 years who has a deep love for music and teaching. I use a variety of method books to fit my individual students' unique learning styles and musical tastes. A typical lesson will include scales, theory, ear training, improvisation and sight reading in a very fun, inspiring and relaxed atmosphere. My strength is with young beginning and intermediate students as well as aspiring singer/songwriters.
My first lesson with a student is a meet and greet where I get to pick their brain about passions, interests and goals. From there, I put together a custom lesson plan to make sure they succeed and keep interest in whatever those goals may be.
But most importantly, I take very seriously the role of instilling confidence in my students. Creative confidence spills over into all pools of life and is not only something I recognize, but take pride in being involved with.
Can't wait to meet you and start the journey!
I am accepting new private students for piano lessons. I have extensive experience teaching children and adults of all levels (over 20 years). I also conducted many large projects like musicals with children and they enjoy working with me very much. I have a PhD in Music and I'm a professor at Tennessee State University.
I'm very good with little ones. They think we play on the piano while I'm doing my job. My first aim is to welcome them to world of music and share my love of music. This is very important for me as once they feel and understand music, it will have an important place in their lives.
My sessions for ages between 4-6 will be 30 minutes most but I highly advice 1 hour of lessons for older students, teenagers and adults.
My lessons tend to stand out from the norm in the fact that I draw up my lessons from all areas of life. I fully believe that as we develop as a person we develop as an artist. In that ilk, my lessons start with building the foundation that is important to build the technical side of piano. The next step is widening the understanding of the arts, from poetry and prose to paintings. My students will enjoy the genuine energy I bring to every lesson along with my lending out of books and CDs.
