Thanks Joshua!

Lessons with Joshua are the highlights of my week. I'm a busy professional who works ~60 hour weeks every week, but lessons with Joshua motivates me to practice on top of that.

Firstly, he is a great singer himself, works in the theater business and performs regularly - which is what you want in a teacher (you don't want do _learn_ from someone who don't _do_ what he/she's teaching). A well-trained singer like him can recognize instantly what you're doing wrong and what needs to be done to fix it. He has well-developed ideas ready for you to utilize to improve your technique. They include analogies, ways to think about your body and your resonators, etc. His teaching also helps you understand what you need to do to sing in a particular style (in which you may not always want to sing "correctly") and what is healthy for your voice vs what is not.

Secondly, his lessons are enormously fun. He achieves a great balance of keeping things light and keeping things professional. We get work done each lesson but it never feels like work. I always leave lessons feeling like it was too short. I would probably book three-hour lessons every time if I could.

Joshua is wonderful!

I've always wanted to learn how to sing, but was too insecure/too uncertain to know where to start. Joshua has been amazing at teaching an absolute beginning, from how to correctly breathe, to learning how to match pitch, to recently making it through one of my first songs successfully. Joshua is incredibly warm and supportive; I highly recommend him as a teacher!!

I believe I can offer an unmatchable ...

Jon is fantastic. He has been incredibly patient with me - both as a brand new player and as a busy working mom who sometimes needs to shuffle things around or doesn't always have as much practice time as I'd like. He teaches comprehensively - from reading music to understanding every aspect of my guitar to learning how to play. He's laid back but takes his teaching seriously, and is generally just a joy to learn from. I would recommend him to anyone - beginner on up, and at any age. I can imagine him being great with kids. He has seemingly endless patience!

Jon is a really talented and passionate teacher that I'd highly recommend. He makes the lessons fun, will tailor every one completely around your interests, and is very attentive and patient. Also, he's just a super nice guy that you'll enjoy being around. Very humble, and seems to genuinely enjoy helping people develop.
As for logistics, Jon works with my schedule and is great about communicating. I enjoy learning at his house and he even lends me a guitar so I don’t have to bring mine across the city. So I'd encourage anyone interested in guitar to seek him out... he makes it easy, really encourages you, and is the kind of teacher who will keep you moving forward.

Mr. Johnson is a FABULOUS violin instructor. I haven't played in 20 years, and after a few lessons my technique is coming back. His teaching style is one where he pushes you beyond your expectations. He's an excellent teacher for beginners and experienced violinists. I also love that he is so talented in many genres of music...such a gifted violinist. Hope to play like him again soon. I highly recommend this teacher.

fabulous teacher

Dennis is a wonderful teacher. His extensive knowledge of all forms of music comes through in his teaching skills. He is extremely patient and understanding as we work through pieces. I started taking classes as an adult in retirement, with past experience limited to a few chords learned way back in high school. We're now well into number of beautiful classical pieces, I've gained a significant knowledge of music theory, and we've just now starting to tackle the blues !!. I may have eclectic tastes, but Dennis feels very comfortable with it and loves teaching all types of music. I know I'm in the hands of a master musician and teacher.

If you are serious about learning this instrument, you couldn't find a better teacher.

Dennis is extraordinary in all ways: He knows about all there is to know about harmony; he can pinpoint and diagnose exactly what difficulty a student might be having and then explain how to overcome it; he is a talented composer and improvisor; and above all, in whatever genre he chooses to play, he is simply a beautiful musician.

Over the last year, I have taken many guitar lessons in the greater DC area in search of a teacher that will help further craft my amateur skill set. To-date, Grant has not only been the most knowledgeable out of any of the musicians, he also beams with passion for the trade. Not to mention his patience and encouragement - a quality that makes even the most rookie guitarist feel like he is the next "The Edge."

I have always wanted to learn to play guitar but I never pushed myself passed learning basic cords and several elementary songs via videos and books. Recently, I decided if I wanted to really learn it was now or never and I started taking lessons with Grant. In addition to his ability to shred on the guitar, which he gladly did when I asked for a demonstration, he is a great teacher. He has been a patient teacher when I repeatedly make mistakes and always sends me off with something cool to practice before the next lesson. I strongly recommend Grant and will continue to use him as my teacher.

After just one lesson with Susanna I knew I had found a phenomenal teacher. She really studied directly with the best names in opera, specifically in the bel canto style. And she's able to explain it all really well. After a few months of lessons, my signing now feels so easy. It has a line to it, is controlled, clear, more powerful, more flexible, and all of my previous vocal problems have disappeared. I don't know what I did without her. SUSANNA IS THE BEST!!!

Susanna is AMAZING! After just one lesson she gave me more knowledge of the voice than I have ever had in my previous years of studying. And after working with her for a few months, my voice has improved dramatically. It is clear, my range doubled, and it rarely gets tired anymore. I can't recommend her enough!
