My teaching style puts a focus on realizing musicality and expression through proper playing technique. Playing for hours shouldn't be hard on your body! I work to make my students comfortable at their instruments so that their musical intentions can shine. I am a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, and I look forward to meeting some new cellists!

About Rachel

I have a BFA in Cello Performance from UW-Milwaukee. As a student, I worked for the university as a tutor in Music Theory, at the recommendation of my professors. Since relocating to Philadelphia, I have established myself as an educator all over the city. I am the cello instructor at the Baldwin

It's no surprise that it's hard to learn an instrument as an adult. Apart from a semester of guitar lessons in college, I had no musical training and no understanding of music theory. All I knew was that I loved the sound of a cello, and I was graciously gifted one on my 28th birthday.

I am proud to say that I have been Rachel's cello student for over three years now. Since the beginning, Rachel has made sure that I felt comfortable during our lessons, and she remains reassuring even when I get discouraged with my bow hold or tight fingers.

Rachel has taught me a lot about music theory, but she's mostly taught me how to love my instrument. It has been amazing to see and hear the progress I've made, and she continues to give me more exciting challenges to practice each week. She's been attentive to my learning style and my ever-evolving cello goals, and I've been consistently impressed with how she's been able to keep our lessons interesting and fun over the years.

Rachel and I meet for an hour once a week and I look forward to every lesson! She has been the best instructor, and I look forward to many more lessons to come.

I’m an adult student and Rachael has been my instructor for almost two years now. She’s very knowledgeable and PATIENT! Ive grown so much in the past two years and I’m looking forward to more.

I teach students who have no prior music training or who have taken a break from lessons and want to progress in their ability to play piano.

About Sharon

Learn to love playing the piano from the inside out--by understanding the fundamentals so you can create and recreate music for personal enjoyment and to share with others. Helped me step up my playing

I had been teaching myself piano for many years when I reached a point where I was not improving and realized I needed a teacher. Sharon helped me work on my weaknesses as a musician and had a good eye for pieces that helped me build on my strengths. We always had fun working together, and she was always good about working around my busy schedule.

Sharon is doing a great job, she is well organized and knows what she's doing. I am pleased that she gives my daughter concrete feedbck and lessons to practice at home. The only problem is my daughter could use a little more practice time with her.

Donnabella is a great teacher to have. I started off shy and unsure of what I was doing but I have been slowly gaining confidence because of her positive personality. She educated me a lot from the start and gives good advices to improve on. She's chill and focused on helping me grow. I am able to understand acting more now through her experiences. She knows her stuff!

I have been teaching guitar for 40 years. All age groups from 10 to 70. I can teach to read music music and play chords. I believe in a relaxed yet exciting environment while the student learns the art of music, something they will take with them for the rest of their lives.

About Thomas

When teaching I try to make my lessons as easy as possible, informative yet fun. I focus on traditional concepts of teaching while adding a bit of my own knowledge of the procedures which I have found to make the learning process much more enjoyable.

Tom is a well informed music and guitar teacher. I tried two other guitar teachers prior to Tom and they didn’t work out for me. Tom is a natural teacher he’s got it, he just seems to make learning easy.

I have been taking lessons from Tom for almost 5 years. He is very patient and talented. I look forward to another 5 years of learning by his hand.

"Our daughter Katie has been under the tutelage of Michelle and Robert for the past nine months. During this time, Katie’s vocal performance level has far exceeded anything we expected. Michelle and Robert have transformed Katie into a stage-ready performer. In doing so, they also prepared us for the arduous tasks of collegiate school selection, entrance requirements, specific audition techniques and audition music selection and preparation. Michelle and Robert also gave us general counseling on what to expect from music schools and
their staff. I felt this was as important as the vocal coaching as my wife and I had no previous experience with music education. We are extremely fortunate and eternally grateful for what Michelle and Robert have done for our daughter’s life. If you’re looking for the complete package in vocal performance coaching, you’ve found them!!!"

"Three of our children have taken piano lessons from Carolyn. Our oldest son, who has graduated from college, still plays daily. Our other two sons are current students; both began lessons in early grade school.

Mrs. Calahan is patient, kind, and affectionate with her students. She shows a keen interest in encouraging them to succeed, while tolerating their occasional quirks. Our kids have had the opportunity to play classical pieces, jazz, ragtime, show tunes, and popular music. Their piano playing abilities have progressed steadily under Mrs. Calahan's instruction and her unintimidating approach has allowed them to develop an ever-increasing appreciation for music. We are lucky to have found her!"

5 Excellent Sight Reading Exercises for Singers

Unless you're a career-chorister, the concept of sight reading music is probably going to at best make you slightly nervous, and at worst paralyze you with fright. However, at some point, probably when you join a choir or perhaps go to an audition, you're going to have to face that hurdle. Sight reading comes easier to some singers than others, but it's not some mythical task akin to retrieving a golden fleece; sight-reading, even for the more able, is a learned skill, and there are several sig …
