My 16-year-old daughter has taken lessons from David for almost 2 years. She highly recommends him for his patience, and she really likes how he will play the music first if she's having difficulty, so she can see exactly how to place her fingers or correct what she is doing wrong. David is personable and very accommodating to fit your schedule.

David is a patient teacher and has been very accommodating to our needs. Each week we see improvement in our son's skills.

David's been teaching piano to our 10 year old son Harry for the past 3-4 years. He's done a great job keeping lessons fun, and keeping Harry engaged and making forward progress. Harry's progressed to the point where he's enjoying playing, and he practices without us asking him to. He can see for himself how much he's improved and it makes him want to keep going. All this is largely due to David's gifts as teacher. I should also mention that David has an outstanding musical knowledge and background -- he can teach rock, pop, jazz, or classical piano, and he plays jazz gigs professionally.

Damien was very knowledgeable and patient with my son. He’s excited for his next lesson.
Dana
My son had never played the clarinet before. I signed him up with Damien to get an intro to the instrument, play with the correct embouchure, and learn a few simple songs. My son definitely got a head start before virtual learning starts in the fall and enjoyed learning about the clarinet. Damien was patient, direct and very knowledgeable. I only intended to do summer lesson to get him started, but I will definitely consider lessons again after he gets settled with his new school schedule.

I have the experience of teaching private lessons in France and America and I am seeking clarinet students of every level and age.

I will focus my teaching on your needs and can help you improve technique, musicianship and sound production. I also can help you get ready for auditions and recitals.

I individualize each students instruction. I keep in mind the students and parents goals and schedule when I make this plan.

About Harry

I started playing clarinet in the school band at age six. My father was a musician, and he thought that playing in the school band would help me overcome my extreme shyness. I remember my first music lesson. I really liked my teacher. He came to my house, and he helped me to care for my clarine

Harry helped my daughter polish up some pieces for an audition. She was nervous and didn't feel fully prepared. Three visits from Harry gave her some great instruction and the confidence to go in and nail her audition!

My son has had three lessons so far, and we have been very impressed. Mr. Grainger does a great job of encouraging my son through positive feedback, making lessons fun, and giving him very specific, targeted feedback to improve his playing. He has been very flexible and responsive to our changing needs. I highly recommend him.

I really enjoy taking saxophone lessons with Ana. She is extremely knowledgeable in topics related to saxophone, jazz, and improvisation. Her lessons are very organized, intellectually stimulating, and she provides just the right amount of structure while allowing me the space to develop my own creative ideas. I highly recommend taking a lesson with her. You’ll thank me later!
Christine
I have played clarinet for 5 years now and am working on music for solo pieces and band class. Ana gives me lots of material to work on and I am feeling more confident about my playing!
Amanda D.
I'm a classically-trained flutist and have been taking Jazz improv and theory lessons with Ana for four months. I have learned so much from her - she has opened my eyes to jazz and made it fun and approachable. The lessons have given me a deeper appreciation when listening to jazz, improved my listening skills, and made me a better player. I never thought I would be able to do improv, and after a few weeks of lessons it came very easily to me. I highly recommend Ana to anyone who wants to learn jazz improv, regardless of what instrument they play!
