About Farobag
A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.
Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.
Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.
*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.

Calculus is the climax of all of the mathematics you've been learning from Kindergarten through college; I take that into account when tutoring calculus, as it is deeply rooted in the concepts that you have learned in your past math classes, and it has a direct relationship with pre-calculus, trigonometry and Algebra II. I believe that calculus has unfairly been branded 'the most difficult mathematical subject' simply because most people fail to understand it's prerequisites. I dispel the phobia of calculus by seizing every opportunity to relate its hard parts to the basic concepts in mathematics (that we understand better) that define it. For example: I make compelling analogies using easier concepts in algebra, such as evaluating expressions, in order to facilitate the learning process during your introduction to limits and continuity. Allow me to mollify your acquisition of knowledge in calculus, and endorse your effort to 'chastise calculus'.

I have lived in over 20 countries, which allowed me to speak several languages, and which permitted me to maintain my patience, élan and spirit of enthusiasm when dealing with even the most extreme personalities. I have solid background in both math and the natural sciences, as I have consistently maintained a 4.0 G.P.A since high school. I am now studying mechanical engineering at IIT, and I have gotten 5s in all of my AP Chemistry, AP Physics and AP Biology exams. I have also been the winner of many STEM-related competitions, through my demonstrating of exemplary leadership qualities and through my brainstorming of blue-sky ideas. I am also a "Mental-Math" practitioner, reflexologist and guitarist. I believe that everyone has potential; however potential is worthless unless put in motion. And experts like me value ourselves in our abilities to give students that push, that jolt of energy that galvanizes them into pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps, allowing them to achieve academic excellence.

CloseI've been helping students achieve their goals in mathematics since 2008. My students go on to be intrigued by math rather than afraid of it because I give them the necessary tools to approach a problem. In the beginning I'll asses where the students stands in the material and put together a plan that allows that specific student to learn the material the best way possible. I teach every student differently according to their strengths and I look forward to working with you!

I have dealt with calculus for years and can help you master it as well! Calculus is very much a language and learning to speak it is not so daunting with the right teacher. I am that person.
I have dealt with calculus from high school to the present. I took AP calculus BC and scored a 5 on the AP test. I've also taken calculus III and Differential Equations and TAed the latter in college. I have worked with multiple students in preparing for calculus exams (AP and collegiate) and worked with the material continuously as a physics major. You want someone who has worked in (and TAed) the subject to help you master it!
I work with students through material, practice problems, test/quiz prep, teach supplemental lectures from unclear lectures in class, and write practice materials for my students! Let me help you master this topic to meet your goals.
Shoot me a message to tell me your goals and I'll help you meet them!
About Alex
I have been playing piano for over 12 years. I retrained from scratch in the Taubman Technique a few years ago and play with ease and effortless musicality! I have taught tons of students how to play the instrument, incorporating these concepts into their playing as well.
I also tutor in STEM topics, including all math, physics, chemistry, and others. I have tutored over 2 dozen students and helped many achieve great results. I have a Master's degree in applied physics, graduated Magna cum Laude, and am fully prepared to help you master your math/science class
Schedule a lesson with me! See yourself improve from someone who knows how people think and understands the topics enough to impart the same onto you!

About Nayoon K.

I am an MIT tutor specializing in math and science, and I have taught math anywhere between pre-algebra and calculus (including algebra) for 5 years. I have taken AP Calculus BC while in high school, and I have taken Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations at MIT, and I actively participated in many math competitions through elementary, middle, and high schools.
Before the lessons, I like to talk with parents, students, and/or teachers to fully gauge what they have been struggling with and how to best help them. Then I identify the student's gap in knowledge while helping them complete their homework and give them additional drilling problems as needed to help them fully master the materials and do well on their tests. I always carry around AP Calculus prep books or college calculus practice problems (depending on the students' levels) so that the students can practice these problems as needed. I also provide them with additional resources and practice problems as needed.
About Nayoon
I'm passionate about learning and student development. I read about learning hacks when I'm tired, and, in my ideal vacation, I would learn about all things that are on my bucket list (yes, I'm serious). I'm also near-obsessed about students' experiences and
“I would not have passed my test in such a short time without her. I hired her a week before my test. She was very professional and very smart, and she used different technique to help me remember.”
- Fabiola L.
“Calc is going great. I got all A’s on my first three tests. Thank you for all your help!”
- Mark G.
“My daughter is so happy about her A in math. Thank you for everything you are teaching her!”
- S., Newton, MA
I believe in in-depth learning. In-depth learning helps my student build the foundation necessary to succeed in their future courses. To facilitate this type of learning, many of my lessons feature derivation of formulas. For the lessons that do not involve formulas, I present a few simple concepts from which we can derive and solve many other problems. My lessons also feature numerous questions to enhance student engagement and to improve student confidence of having them solve the problem on their own as much as possible. I then drill my students with practice problems and get them to explain until I'm fully convinced that my students truly understood the material.
Though I specialize in gifted students, I also have worked with students from all kinds of background. Most of my students are either high school or college students, but I also worked with younger students. I also helped some students implement organizational tips and develop study skills necessary to succeed in their future classes. My students are from all over the world--China, France, Korea, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Vietnam, and United States. To this day, my closest friends are still the international students. English is my second language as well, and I certainly empathize with students who struggle with the English language.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if you think we may be good fit!

About Armon S.

Just like any other research scientist I remember my high school years where I fell in love with literature, history, and philosophy... wait, what? As much as that may sound like a joke, that is my story. I started college with the desire to study the humanities, and ended up falling in love with math, science, and engineering. Today, I am 3rd year PhD student studying Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at the University of Pennsylvania. I believe it is my unique past that allows me to connect with vast range of students with different passions and to present math topics in a way that is not only different from what many students may have experienced before, but in a way that is interesting, relevant, and most of all, fun. In addition to achieving greater success in the classroom, my goal for every one of my students is for them to walk away from my lessons with, if not a complete love for, at least a token appreciation for the elegance and beauty of mathematics.
About Armon
However, despite a career as a research scientist, my academic past would have suggested a much different path. In high school, I was deeply in love with history, literature, and philosophy. In fact, it was my original intention to become an English major when I went to Lehigh, but as fate would have it, the many twists and turns in my life would cause me to find new loves in mathematics, science, and engineering.
While the focus of my studies took a rather extreme turn, I never lost my interest in the humanities. As a result, I believe that this rather unique academic past, allows me as a teacher to connect with a broader range o
many different types of people think about problems has taught me how to disentangle complicated topics and present material in a way that may best be understood for each particular student such that learning not only becomes painless, but fun.
It is my ultimate goal as a teacher, to not only help my students achieve greater success in the classroom and instill a greater level confidence in their abilities, but to dispel the common fear and mysticism of the STEM subjects. For them to carry on afterwards as, if not a new passionate protégées of these arts, but at least as an individual with a fundamental appreciation of their ever subtle elegance and beauty.
