I have had a vocal coach before meeting Pam, but she absolutely took it to another level. Pamela does a good job with teaching the mechanics of singing, as she pin points which muscles the body is using and how to use them properly when singing. She has a variety of warm ups and stretches to get your voice and body prepared to perform and is very good and pushing you to become your best. If you are a serious singer and would like to take the knowledge of your craft a step further, I would definitely recommend.

Pamela is a teacher.

Pamela was very patient with my young daughter. She taught her the beginning stages of reading music and her voice became clearer and louder because of the confidence she gained during her sessions. I would recommend Pamela as a singing instructor for any age but she was so patient and encouraging for my young daughter. We loved it.

Because of a throat and larynx condition, I sought help with my voice. Dena was very thorough in explaining the vocal cords and breathing. This was my first experience with a professional voice instructor and I was very pleased with her input. I received instructions on techniques in breathing which I hope will help my voice. I am looking forward to my next lesson. Thank you.

Lessons consist of learning a solid vocal technique, and learning various repertoire from Broadway, pop, to classical. Also, performing skills will be incorporated, so that the singer feels comfortable acting the song as well. I strongly believe that singers must be actors, and that is what makes us different from instrumentalists. It is also a lot of fun! For children or adults who are willing, I also teach sight singing and spend some of the lessons time learning some basic reading skills.

When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

I like to balance both the science and the intuitive as a teacher, and think both are equally important. I come with a strong background in voice anatomy as well as an intuitive sense of physical and vocal tensions. I use a trusty toolkit of exercises and "voice hacks" to help achieve your best sound as easily as possible.

In each lesson I'll assess and learn your voice through specific exercises first, followed by working through the music you love to help you achieve increased vocal freedom and the level of expression you desire. The focus is on the balance of ease and effort - with the occasional yoga pose thrown in for good measure. :)

About Jacqueline
Hello! Here's a little about me:
Whether it's the voice, piano, guitar, or some acting chops, I have pursued the arts passionately throughout my entire life. The motivation to look at things from as many perspectives as possible has driven me to have a unique toolkit of practices to bring to any teaching situation.

Creds, Street: I began performing professionally since the age of 7 as a singer, dancer, and actor in the regional theater scene. Once I got into songwriting, I taught myself how to record, and now gig around the Philadelphia and Lancaster areas.

Creds, Academic: I have a BA in Music, studied theater with SU in NYC, and have an MA in Music Therapy (board-certified). I've been a practicing music therapist for the last 5 years at a Philly children's hospital, as well as an assisted living facility on the mainline.

Honestly, I have so many compliments for Erin as a teacher. She's incredibly caring, kind, and patient. During lessons, she allows you to go at your own pace and encourages you even as you mess up. She gives compliments to boost your motivation, which is definitely something one wants from a music teacher, especially if you don't have much experience.

If you are not getting something, she will have you try again, often times providing you with many different techniques in the hopes that one works specifically for you. To me, this shows how well Erin understands her craft and how well she can teach it to others. She's able to adapt to her students and show them many different ways to accomplish a goal. I would definitely recommend taking lessons from her, whether for singing or piano. She's an awesome teacher all around.

Siobhan really knows her stuff! She is great at explaining things in a calm and clear manner and her warm and friendly attitude really put me at ease. I used to be so nervous to sing in public, but she helped me gain the confidence to overcome my fears.
