You will learn how to sew for yourself and others. I will teach you all the tricks and short cuts I have learned over the years so you can sew quicker and achieve great results.

Basic use of sewing machine.
How to use pattern in sewing.
Hand sewing techniques.
Garment sewing construction.
Basic alterations to clothing.
Construction of children's clothing.

Beginner-You will learn basic skills of hand and machine stitching, seams, darts, pleats, zippers, pouch, tote bag and build many more samples into a scrapbook.

Intermediate- Fabric dimension and behavior, cutting skills, bias binding, various necklines and making a skirt or blouse. Learn to make garment with commercial pattern.

Advanced-Make dress, skirt, pants or blouse with lining.

Note: Although students learn at different rates, the above results are expected, if taking lessons 2hours a week, for 5weeks for all levels.

I started sewing at age 8 (thanks mom!)

I have a degree in technical theatre with an emphasis in costume design and technology. I design costumes for community theatres, opera companies and drag queens.

I helped teach sewing and costuming during my degrees. I believe in starting beginners with familiarizing themselves with their machines and how to read patterns.

Brandy has 10 + years experience working in the fashion industry and teaching sewing/garment construction to people of all ages and levels. Her experience includes working for high end and luxury tailor shops in NYC, as well as fitting on-set for photoshoots, ecommerce, celebrity fittings and red carpet events.

Sewing lessons include a lesson plan based on your experience and goals.
Includes: Machine sewing techniques: how to thread machine, basic machine sewing methods, hand sewing techniques, understanding patterns, how to cut and sew from patterns, clothing alterations, creating a piece from start to finish.

I have always had a passion for Fashion. Born in Miami and raised in Texas, this Fashionista began her sewing journey at the age of twelve receiving lessons and sewing tips from my mother. From there I started making my own clothing and began wearing my fashions to school which led t me sewing and designing clothing for my fellow school mates as well. Word began to travel that there was a young new designer in the community, so my clientele and skill level began to grow. In 2004 I officially incorporated Random Star Couture a custom clothing brand which caters to Men, Women, Children, and Home Decor. As years progressed I became a professional Sewing Instructor for JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts along with teaching private clients. I also branched out into wardrobe styling and costuming.
