My mission is to provide a positive musical experience for all students. For some this includes rigorous preparation for an audition of some kind, for others it may be an introduction to music fundamentals to foster better listening skills and greater artistic appreciation. All students will be challenged to improve their listening, timing, and technique. All students will learn to play songs that they love.
Recommendations for best results: make a three-month commitment to weekly lessons, and work up to 30 minutes of daily practice. This formula guarantees results. Bring your instrument, music books, and a binder with sheet protectors ☺
*Scheduling policy: to avoid being charged for a lesson - One week notice is required to cancel, skip, or "roll over" a lesson. 24 hours notice to reschedule (based on availability).
To continue weekly lessons, students must maintain at least 90% attendance or the time slot may be forfeited.
Good Luck!
Jordan was born and raised in the El Centro, California where he began playing the alto sax in the elementary band program. At the age of 12, he began his study of guitar and drums, performing in several rock and ska bands around his home town and San Diego. At age 14, is where he found his love for brass instruments when he took up the trombone. While in high school he became a featured soloist with the Imperial Valley College Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of the legendary trumpeter Jimmy Cannon. It was this that lead Jordan to accept the Constance Weldon Music Scholarship to attend the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.
While performing in South Florida Jordan appeared with major acts including 10,000 Maniacs, and appeared on the Spanish television show "Calle Ocho." He also gained invaluable experience teaching in Miami public schools. His first teaching assignment was at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School where he directed 3 beginning bands, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and their highly decorated Jazz Band. Later Jordan moved into the elementary setting, teaching vocal and instrumental music for grades K-5 at Cypress Elementary.
In 2007, Jordan returned to California to pursue a music career in San Diego. He can be seen performing all over San Diego, Orange, and LA Counties in styles ranging from rock, jazz, funk, blues, hip-hop, Latin, and more. He performs primarily on trombone, piano, and guitar, but is known to pick up percussion, harmonica, and other wind instruments as well. Jordan, along with the rest of the aggressively funky cover band SuperMagnetic, were the grand prize winner of the 2010 Viejas Ultimate Music Challenge 4. In 2011, Tori Roze & The Hot Mess were nominated for a San Diego Music Award in the category of "Best Blues Artist" after the release of their first album "From The Hip." They released their second album "Turbulence" last December, and are heard regularly on local San Diego radio. This album has also been nominated for Best Pop album for the 2013 San Diego Music Awards. In 2013, Jordan completed his Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University.
On stage, Jordan is a talented and versatile performer. He is known for his trombone sound and improvisational ability, as well as his positive relationship with his fellow musicians. In lessons, Jordan is energetic and creative.

I enjoy teaching kids and adults of all ages. When you arrive for our first lesson, we'll start by getting to know your musical tastes and aspirations. Then we make a plan. Then we play!
Everybody's path is different, but we must start with a strong foundation in the fundamentals. After we start to establish some technique on your instrument we will explore music that suits you from a practical stand point in your development, and very importantly, stylistically. Together we will plan a curriculum that keeps you motivated toward your goals and that fits your life style.
You can expect a laid back, yet focused environment. Most of all, you can look forward to progress! Hope to see you soon.

If you play in school or just want to pick up a trumpet and learn how to play.
About Paul
I try to teach what the students are interested in and make it fun and interesting so that they learn the lessons and their favorite songs. Every student is different and needs to be taught in a way that makes learning easy and fun for them.
I have a passion for all people and all ages and am blessed to be able to teach from the very young, (ages 2-5 Toddlermusik lessons) to teens and adults.....all the way to senior citizens. I've had many older students all the way up to a 93 year old gentleman who is taking singing lessons and asked me to put music to his lyrics. We have recorded over 50 songs together.
***Background***
I started playing trumpet in 5th grade and knew that music was for me. I also liked playing with drums and piano also because they seemed exciting. I've competed in WSMA (Wi
I started playing the guitar and bass guitar when I was 13 and have never stopped practicing and performing since. I also have done a lot of writing, recording, producing, and have a Pro Tools Studio for students to use.
***College and Teaching***
I began teaching music lessons in college and enjoyed it very much. I received my B.A. in Music from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. There I was very much involved with guitar, piano, voice, trumpet, and being in bands and writing music. After receiving my B.A. I also took 3 years of Education classes at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. I write, produce, and perform my music along with performing with bands around the Midwest.
***Life in Music***
After receiving my B.A. in Music, I continued teaching and opened up my home studio. After a year and a half I had enough students that I was able to quit my factory job and teach music full time. I've been teaching, performing, and writing music ever since.
***Performing and more***
I have been on stage performing music since I was 11. In school band, marching band, competing in music competitions, and in bands touring the Midwest.
I have recorded many CDs with bands and on my own. My most ambitious project was a CD of my original music called, "Girls". I've performed my music and promoted it by being interviewed on Milwaukee radio stations along with internet music sites such as CD Baby. It is very exciting talking on live radio about my music and my passion. It is also even more exciting, and scary, playing my music live on the radio, lol.
***Instruments Taught***
I have been teaching for over 2 decades. Students take lessons for:
* guitar (electric / acoustic)
* piano
* voice
* drums
* trumpet
* saxophone
* harmonica
* music theory / ear training
* studio recording / songwriting
I also give kindermusik lessons to 2-5 year old all the way up to senior citizens 70-93. I play parties, concerts, and Nursing Home performances.
I am experienced as an online (Skype) instructor, and I have taught online lessons worldwide. I've witnessed great results from my online students (both national and international).
I hope I can help you with all of your musical goals and get you going in a positive musical direction.

I have been teaching trumpet for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

I have been teaching private trumpet lessons for 5 years. Every student learns in different ways, so I will invest myself in getting to know each student individually to meet their needs. I believe proper breathing is the key to successful trumpet playing and also enjoying the process of learning to become a better player. I also open my mind to learning by teaching.
About Ulises
As a student who has overcome tension and anxiety, I can pinpoint any causes for these problems that a student may have. I am very understanding and I know that each student learns differently. I believe that music making should be fun, and I can help your playing be effortless so you can enjoy every moment of playing the instrument.
I have been contracted by several orchestras in Idaho in the past, and I have played professionally for memorial day services. I have played in brass quintets and am familiar with playing the correct style in a jazz setting.

I have spent the last 35 years teaching elementary and middle school band in a community known for its strong music program.
I love teaching music to students.. especially the art of playing trumpet. I try to incorporate fun and enthusiasm in each lesson while accomplishing some short term and long term goals. The student is my ultimate focus during the lesson time. Sometimes my students arrive and have a total different idea of concepts or literature in which they wish to make progress different from what I had planned. We are always able to accommodate these shifts in plans while reaching our lesson goals.
I enjoy working with students in the middle school ages. I find that this is when they make the greatest growth. There is nothing better that seeing a child's face as the bulbs go off concerning musical concepts. I believe that together we can reach great heights in your musical development. I invite you to try s lesson and make music meaningful in your life.

I still remember how much he cared for every single kid in each of his bands. There are people who are put on this earth to teach and he is one of those. I can't imagine how my life would have turned out if it weren't for Dr. Mealey.
I can't recommend studying with him any more highly.

It was always a pleasure to watch Dr. Mealey and his students perform in concert. The looks of joy were always evident with everyone in the house - members of the ensemble, its director, and the audience.
You can't go wrong with Dr. Mealey.

Hi! I have a Bachelors in Music Education and have experience teaching many beginning students! I have 3 children and decided to give up regular teaching to be with them. I believe that tone production is the most important area of study. It doesn’t matter what you can play if it doesn’t sound good. I can’t wait to help more students love to “play” on their instruments!

I have worked with many different age groups and levels of ability. I am happy to help you learn to have fun and "play" your instrument!
