Ali has had music in her life since she was in the crib. She has performed professionally in the musical theatre world and she has studied in several universities for Musical Theater, Jazz, Pop, Blues, and R&B. Since the age of sixteen, she has been selected to sing as a guest soloist for venues such as Spivey Hall, Georgia World Congress Center, and Georgia Tech Hotel Conference Center. Ali has also sung for many movies and recordings, and recently recorded a demo for David Foster, Barbra Streisand, and Andrea Bocelli and recently toured as a pianist for "The Women of Ireland." She is a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music and earned her BM in Music Business and Vocal Performance cum laude studying under Magi Scott, Jeff Ramsey, Jerome Kyles, and Carolyn Escoffrey, Donna McElroy, Livingston Taylor, Joan Lader, and Charlie Sorrent

Although practice can be boring for the student, asking a student to pick at least one song to work on can help the student and the teacher have fun and learn at the same time. After a few months, not only will her students have fun, but they will learn how to be a better person and musician.

More important than my conservatory education and my experience as an educator and a performer is my passion for teaching music and acting and my undying belief that anyone can learn to be a musician and an actor. I'm currently available to teach lessons in my own St. Augustine home studio, in the World Golf Village area, and online around the globe.

I'm a cum laude graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey and a winner of its merit scholarship.
After performing with the New York and Royal Philharmonics, the New Jersey and Virginia Symphonies, the American Boy Choir and the internationally renowned opera star, Andrea Bocelli, studying opera and piano at Westminster Choir College and performance art and improvisational acting at East Carolina University in North Carolina, and appearing in shows and pageants across
the east coast, I found my life's work in 2003 when I began teaching music.

I've successfully taught hundreds of different students since 2003, from 5-year-olds with special needs to middle-aged professional opera singers, from a professor in Saudi Arabia to a 65-year-old doctor of music, from kids of Radio Disney to students of the famed Actors Studio in New York, from busy stay-at-home parents to retirees with bucket lists, from CEOs to touring singer-songwriters.

I've created and led a workshop about singing called, "The Whole Body Singer". I've written dozens of articles about music and music education for the blog at TakeLessons.com.

My extensive knowledge of the voice has encouraged and empowered hundreds of singers and prepared many of them to win competitions, pageants and auditions, as well as roles in operas and musicals.

Having both taught myself piano and received formal training at a conservatory has prepared me to teach almost anyone how to play.
The intensive training and education that I received at Westminster Choir College in songwriting, music theory and sight reading has benefited my students at every level.

My current work as singer and keyboardist in the acoustic rock duo, Timberwood, has strengthened my knowledge of a broad range of styles and genres. I have a strong commitment to continuing my education. That's why I recently (2014) studied songwriting online with the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

In the lessons that I teach, I'm flexible, positive and encouraging. While I want my students to have fun and love music, not dread it, I expect hard work and persistence. I am caring, patient, nurturing, and compassionate. In piano lessons, I usually allow the student to choose a piece with which to warm up and then move on to technique and repertoire. In voice lessons, I usually warm up the singer and discuss technique and sight singing before focusing on song choices. Joan Frey Boytim wrote a book for voice that I like to use, and I like the Estelle Liebling exercises for the more advanced singer. Hanon exercises are a big part of my piano curriculum, and I enjoy the Bastien and Alfred books for young and old. I have used completely random songs pulled out of a piano bench and a karaoke CD for kids. I will use almost anything I can get my hands on if it means effectively teaching music.
Acting lessons consist of exercises and games that apply learned concepts, and monologue and audition coaching. Parents, siblings and spouses are always welcome to observe lessons quietly.

Heather was great at helping me improve my singing. We did online lessons which made timing really difficult to work on and this was one of my biggest challenges to begin with. The internet was occasionally failing or very delayed. The upside was my busy schedule allowed me to keep up with the lessons for a while until I couldn't anymore. Heather is very musically talented and good at explaining how singing should feel which helped me to sing higher notes than I ever imagined I could. I wished our lessons could have been in person.

I have been singing since I was 3, anything and everything from Michael Jackson to Elvis Presley to Luciano Pavarotti. Originally from Colorado, I studied music/theatre, as well as vocal pedagogy at The University of Colorado at Boulder, where I graduated with highest honors. I made my Broadway debut in "The Phantom of the Opera" at age 24. I also performed in "Chess in concert" as a featured rock tenor soloist at the New Amsterdam Theatre on Broadway with Josh Groban. I have understudied and performed lead roles in the first AEA National Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s "Whistle Down the Wind." Regionally, I have played many lead roles all over the United States in productions including "Les Miserables," "Miss Saigon," "The Wild Party," and "She Loves Me."

As an ASCAP recording artist, currently I am working in the studio with a full production team on my first pop/rock album. I also often sing on demos for producers and write songs for other artists in many different genres.

As a TV/Film actor, most recently I was on set with Marvel's TIARA 2 on Netflix. I have booked lead roles in 4 SAG-AFTRA short films, as well as the comedic lead in a SAG-AFTRA Web-series. I was called back for producers as a Series Regular for "The Knick," an episodic series produced and directed by Steven Soderbergh on Cinemax.

Having spent a lifetime on the stage in many roles, many capacities, I have accumulated a vast amount of knowledge pertaining to all facets of performing; be it theater, television, film. While not subscribing to one particular "method", I stress "reacting, not acting", and believability of performance. All ages and experience levels have benefited from my approach. Whether a student is an aspiring actor, or a working actor sharpening their skills or prepping for an audition, I provide a solid foundation and practical knowledge and guidance.

About Glenn
I have been active in the entertainment industry since the age of 12, when I gave my first professional performance. Prior to that I was already being introduced to music with years of guitar, and then vocal instruction. I do not remember a time of my life when I was not singing somewhere; in the house, in the yard, in the classroom. That is perhaps why I identify so well with the young people who gather so much enjoyment from "just singing" at every opportunity. I studied professionally for over 10 years with renown soprano and voice teacher Sylvia Jensen, who was instrumental in the enhancement of my vocal knowledge and technique. She is now the Director of Education for the Miss Ohio pageants of the Miss America competitions, elevating many young ladies to the national spotlight. At age 14, I auditioned for, and was added to cast of a
network television variety program, "The Gene Carroll Show", that was a television institution for over 30 years in the Midwest. I was a featured performer on that program for over 7 years, all the while perfecting the art of "playing to a camera." This experience was invaluable, and the knowledge I gathered is now included in my curriculum. I also began performing a solo act in the nightclub circuit at the age of 15, performing up and down the "north coast" from Cleveland, OH, (my home), to Erie. PA. At a very young age, I learned the difficult art of choosing musical material and pacing a show; also adapting to performing under a myriad of conditions with a vast array of musical accompaniment. After graduating college with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing, I assembled my own band, and took to the road. That experience eventually brought the act to Las Vegas in 1982. Over the years my show has been a staple in major casino cabarets in Las Vegas, and all over Nevada. Since my first engagement at The Landmark Hotel in the early 1980's, I have literally been up and down the famed Las Vegas Strip many times over. The Desert Inn, The Dunes, The Stardust, The Maxim, The Tropicana, New York New York, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Bally's, The Flamingo, The Imperial Palace, The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Fremont, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and a three year engagement at The Riviera. My show is truly comprised of musical variety; classics, show tunes, jazz, rock, blues, r&b, country. Even a presentation of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, that I perform in full costume. It is this ability to successfully deliver an extensive repertoire that I am enthusiastic about passing along to the next generation of entertainers.

I have been truly blessed in my career to have experienced so many highlights; too many to document. From winning an understudy roll in the Broadway Musical "Platinum" starring Hollywood actress Alexis Smith, to performing our National Anthem at events ranging from Major League Baseball to ESPN Boxing to receptions for major dignitaries, to recording 7 albums and a full-length video, to being asked to perform for Mr. Frank Sinatra at the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament, I have lived a full life on stage, learning and absorbing every bit of knowledge gathered along the way.
Now it is my desire to escalate my status as an educator to a more "one on one" experience; availing myself the opportunity to pass along that wealth of knowledge to individual students who aspire to enjoy the entertainment profession as I have, providing them with the skills needed to successfully compete. Or, should it be their choice not to pursue entertainment as a vocation, to gain a working understanding of all facets of their instrument so as to gain a better appreciation of music. Whatever the goal of the student, I feel that I am equipped to provide them with the tools needed to achieve that goal.

*** Lesson Details ***
Content of Sessions

Generally, the first 10-15 minutes of each lesson will be focused on vocal warm up and exercise. (For guitar students, we will review the previous
week's assignment). For Vocal Students, it is understood that the voice mechanism is made up of muscles, and as an athlete prepares for a sporting event, a singer must prepare to vocalize. It is at this time in our lesson when the student will develop good habits of voice maintenance, which will serve them well throughout their careers. The proper care and preservation of the vocal unit cannot be stressed enough, especially for pubescent and pre-pubescent students. Vocal chords in a developmental stage are most susceptible to damage, and because they are particularly sensitive, they must be handled with care. Our warm up regimen is designed to strengthen as well as preserve the singing voice.

I am not an advocate of getting too involved and "bogged down" in the technical aspects of singing, especially with the young students, and
especially early in our program. This is not to say that breath control, tonality, pitch, etc. are not vital to good singing, because these workings are ESSENTIAL, and their application will certainly be incorporated into our studies. Some instructors, on occasion, have a tendency to lose sight of the fact that much to do with singing happens "naturally", and too much focus on the "technical" can actually be inhibiting. This can alter a beautiful, natural tone into one that is unnatural and contrived.

I adhere to the philosophy that above all else, SINGERS WANT TO SING SONGS, and musicians-in-training want to play music. That is our focus, and all of our training is conceived with that objective in mind. All the technical knowledge and coaching serves no purpose without practical application. It is my belief that the most significant progress occurs when a vocalist is singing a song.

Nearly every element of instruction can be utilized in the performance of one song. This is why the majority of our session time will be spent "in song". For the very young student, we will concentrate our efforts with the students choices of favorite and familiar songs. The older students will undoubtedly have favorite songs, styles and artists. Special attention will be paid to the genre most enjoyed by the student, but diversity will be emphasized as well, and a variety of genres will be unpacked and explored. I believe that whatever a student's musical goals and aspirations, it is in their best interest to gain knowledge and insight in all facets of music, singing, and performance.

The most vital pre-requisite for any student is their enthusiasm. My ambition will be to harness that enthusiasm and channel it productively through stimulating instruction. Our sessions will be informative and educational, but always predicated upon "having fun with music".

I am proud to feature a curriculum that emphasizes the entertainment aspect of singing as well as the technical; created to benefit all ages and experience levels, from beginner to seasoned professional. After just weeks of my "Triple Threat Training" a student will begin to see astounding results: vocally, musically, and in the art of performance. I am excited to share my knowledge with you. Let's get started!

My studio is equipped with a full vocal sound system with microphones that I utilize to teach the valuable art of mic technique. Young students enjoy using the mics and hearing themselves sing and perform. Since our lessons are predicated on enjoying the art of singing, this opportunity has proven invaluable. For the advanced performer, studying all aspects of amplification and what a singer should know about their stage sound is a part of our educational curriculum. My studio is furnished with the equipment that is essential to mastering that knowledge.
Since the practical aspect of my course is based on singing songs, I provide all the latest technology required to allow my students the opportunity to sing the songs of their choosing, with and without the lead vocal tracks. I feel that when students are singing their favorite songs, it offers me the greatest teaching opportunities. I make certain the every musical genre can be represented, and feel I have the knowledge and ability to guide the student is whatever their musical tastes. About Kimberly
I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam and began formal violin lessons at the age of 9. I studied all genres including, fiddle, classical, musical theater and 20th century. I have continued to study violin since then and have performed in many orchestras and small groups, such as Honor Orchestra, the Paradise Symphony, the Yuba College Orchestra, Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society Orchestra and more. I have been concert master and first stand in many of these. I have also soloed in many and have been the first violinist in quartets for countless weddings and other events. I have also played
in numerous pit orchestras for musicals.
I have been in choirs and soloing since I can remember. I have performed and soloed in choirs such as the Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society, CSUS Chamber Choir, the CSUS Women's Choir and more. I have toured to Victoria, Montreal, Ottowa, Oregon and Washington. I have also been in opera productions such as The Magic Flute, Peleas and Melisande and Die Fledermaus (The Bat) with CSUS Opera. I am a recent recipient of the Saturday Club Scholarship, a prestigious award, and have won many competitions (some repeatedly) both vocally and with violin, such as the Tri-County Competition, Young Artist Competitions, and the California Soloist and Ensemble Competitions. Additionally, I have performed musical theater repertoire and have performed as lead in musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and Into the Woods. I have also soloed repeatedly with the Yuba College jazz band and at churches all around.
I have earned my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from CSU Sacramento. I have my Associates Degrees in both Music and Early Childhood Education from Yuba College. Additionally, I have obtained my certificate of completion of training from Music Together, an organization which trains teachers to teach Basic Music Competence (both in tonality and meter), and am currently teaching this curriculum.
I have been teaching music privately for over ten years to all ages, genders and abilities. Additionally, I have taught ages 0-5 years in a preschool setting for 7 years and am extremely familiar with developmentally appropriate practices for both preschool and school age, as I am a site supervisor at a child development center with a preschool and after school program. I have had many adult students as well and encourage adults to enrich their lives with music at any age! Additionally, I have experience teaching parent child classes and am familiar with how to teach to the particular needs of each family and student.

I have been teaching since 2002 and have loved every minute of it! I teach all ages. I tailor my style of teaching to each student's goals and to what works for you. If you want to learn Taylor Swift music, I won't be giving you arias. On the other hand, if you wish to study classically, I have repertoire appropriate for you. I teach fiddle, classical, orchestral, 20th century and more for violin students and have experience with jazz, classical, musical theater, pop, religious, spiritual, choral, 20th century and more vocally.
For violin students, I use the Suzuki method as a pushing off point, a tried and true method used in many countries across the world, though I have other repertoire including fiddle, orchestra, small ensemble, solo, concertos, Christmas, and more. For vocalist, I start with the book, Adventures in Singing. I also have warm ups and exercises to keep you vocally healthy. I will teach you anything you want to learn! I also teach how to read music, theory and harmony, depending on your interest and tailored to your current skill level.
I am encouraging and knowledgeable. I will meet you at your current level, be that beginner, intermediate, or advanced. My students can look forward to being encouraged and growing through their time with me. I don't have preset ideas about where you should be in 3-6 months, nor do I have a one size fits all teaching style. Instead, I will work with you individually so that you will become the best musician you can be, meet your goals, and increase your enjoyment and appreciation for music.

I have instruments available for rent. My voice students should bring their own music also. I have a piano in my studio along with music stands. Of course, every student must have a pencil and come ready to have fun learning! :)

I just finished our new band debut and I must say I got many compliments on my vocals and range. I must give 100% credit to the hard work Kimberly puts into every lesson with focused repetition and many great pointers on taking care of my voice. Her skills and expertise in singing and musical instruments (violin) are exceptional. If you want a teacher who puts heart and soul into every lesson for every student, Kimberly is the one. She's the best! My daughter started on violin with the school and then moved on to viola. Finding a viola teacher is no easy task! In fact, finding anything for the viola - music, strings, etc ... is difficult! But Kimberly does a great job and got her off to a wonderful start. We are so incredibly happy to have Kimberly teaching our daughter. Do not rely on your child's school to teach viola - go directly to Kimberly.

Ms. Janet Dacal has been a wonderful mentor and instructor to all of my Musical Theater students at MAD Dance Inc. Her love for children of all ages is beautiful to see. She conducts all of her classes either, Audition Prep, Vocal Technique, Acting Technique or Broadway Singing in a professional and fun manner. It is evident that she truly cares for each student.

All of my students have learned tremendously with Ms. Dacal and they continue to thrive under her direction. I have known Janet for almost 10 years now and to this day she continues to inspire me as well. Her patience, dedication and teaching techniques have helped my students be the best that they could be. I'm an actor/musician born and raised in Las Vegas home for the summer before my final year at Montclair State University as a BFA Acting student. I've been studying music since six years old and have been doing acting and musical theatre for 7 years alongside directing, writing, voice tutoring, and composing.

Acting lessons available for a toolbox approach including Meisner, Uta Hagen, Improv, Stanislavski, Practical Aesthetics, and classics along with the voice work of Skinner and Linklater and movement technique of Laban and Suzuki. Lessons are t
otally personalized for the needs of the actor and can range from Shakespeare to contemporary scene study with a focus on specificity, clarity, vulnerability, and sincerity.

I teach singers in all genres, though I have the most experience in MT, folk, and pop. My goal is to help students not only learn to sing with the utmost vulnerability and honesty, but to ensure that they can do so while maintaining safe technique through breathing and relaxation. I work hard to eliminate affectations and habits to find the most uninhibited and expressive that the student's voice has to offer. MT singers will also focus largely on acting and finding authenticity within the suspended reality of song.

Lessons are tailored to the music taste and needs of the student and lesson plans are completely individualized to ensure the student is learning at growing at whatever pace suits their path while making sure they're still having fun and making art. If the student is interested in writing their own music, good news! I'm always willing to help fellow songwriters with composition.

I also offer lessons to child singers and actors as I love nothing more than seeing kid artists. Children's voice lessons are largely based in Musical Theatre/classics, focusing on ear training, sheet music, phrasing, rhythms, and breathing while children's acting lessons are based largely in classic/contemporary film and theatre, focusing on projection, clarity, commitment, and confidence.

I have been a student of Cathy for four years and the lessons she taught me helped shaped me into the successful actor I am today. We worked on a wide range of topics from Shakespearean acting, film and tv acting and on stage. Cathy excells in all of these topics, going in depth in every one to get to the root of the character, scene or narrative. She also coached me on audition techniques and monologue and scene choices, something that has been extremely helpful in my auditions in New York City. Her experience as a director and 30 plus years in the business make her an extremely valuable partner to anyone who works with her.

Cathy was my teacher, director, and mentor for the three years I attended Saint Michael's College. She was the first professor I met on campus and the one I have always remained in touch with. She is the type of person who reached out to catch up with me while I lived in London and she was visiting with her husband. Her devotion to her students and her hope for their success are unwavering.

Three words to describe Cathy as an acting teacher: HONEST, CONCISE, and ENCOURAGING.

HONEST: Cathy does not sugarcoat. She tells you how she sees it. This is how she builds trust with her actors so that they can stop sabotaging themselves through internalizing and overanalyzing themselves. She creates a professional relationship with you to feel confident in making strong, bold choices and assessing the results after. This has made my experiences both in auditions and rehearsals extremely successful.

CONCISE: People in the theatre do a lot of talking. Cathy gets to the point both in how she speaks to her actors and how she directs. Acting is an art form but at the professional level there are prescriptive elements required of an actor so that text can be analyzed properly, choices can be appropriately made, and through it all there is always truth both in action and word. Cathy gets her actors to that point without grandiose tangents that, frankly, get the actor no where.

ENCOURAGING: Cathy wants everyone to succeed. She wants the story to be told truthfully. She expects a great deal from her students and in return guides you with empathy and patience so that you will be able to look back at your work and be equally as proud of yourself as she is of you.

I owe a great deal to Cathy. I have worked regionally and Off-Broadway since graduating and that has a lot to do with the tools she has given me. She helped me build a very strong artistic foundation and I continue to hone my skills because, as she always reminds her students, there is always more work that can be done.
