Saxophone was the first instrument, aside from Piano, that I started to play. I started in 4th grade with this instrument until my middle school teacher in 6th grade asked me to switch to French horn. I continued to perform on Saxophone in our school's Jazz ensemble in Middle School and High School. I no longer play the Saxophone but can still teach students how to play the instrument!

About Beckie
Hi!
My name is Beckie and I have played music for all of my life. I play and teach many different instruments such as the French horn, trumpet, piano, saxophone, mandolin, guitar, and voice.

In 2017, I graduated from UCLA with my Masters in Music on French horn. In 2010, I graduated from Chapman University with two degrees in music- music performance on French horn and music education.

My first job was as at a Montessori Academy elementary school, where I was the brass coach for 3 years. This is where I fell in love with teaching. I have been teaching privately for 15 years now and love the one-on-one attention that I can give the students.

I have worked with many great organizations like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and various music studios around Los Angeles.

I currently am a freelance musician, Elementary school music
teacher, brass coach for two local high schools and a private music teacher! I perform with orchestras and groups all around the Los Angeles area. I have performed in such wonderful venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera house, in which I was able to premier a piece!

I look forward to working with you or your child in helping to start or continue a musical instrument!

*** Lesson Details ***
When I teach lessons, I like to check in with the student to see how their day was and how practicing throughout the week went. I am very patient and will teach at the student's pace. I expect the student to practice during the week, even if for just 10 minutes a day. I will always work with a student as long as it takes to have them understand what is difficult for them musically.

For music, I try to find free options but books may be a better option. When we choose a book to play out of, I like to choose a book together so that the parent and the child are happy about the selection. Books vary based on what the needs are for each student. Books are to be purchased by the parent.

I usually play my instruments with the students, but being a freelance musician, I may need to save my chops for an upcoming gig. Not always, but happens from time to time :)

I also have a 24-hour cancellation/lesson change policy. If you are late for your lesson, I will try to accommodate the time but may have students or rehearsals afterward so it will not always be a guarantee. If you are going to be late, please text me BEFORE the scheduled lesson. Lessons are to be every week as I DO NOT teach bi-weekly lessons.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lesson space is in my home w/ seating for parents and music stand for students. I also have a cat and a dog, so if you are allergic, please let me know! The dog and the cat are put away for the lessons as to not distract either one of us! They are pretty cute!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to provide the music books and their own instruments and music stand.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical genres of playing but I am able to teach all different styles of music.

Outstanding instructor! Beckie is very positive and encouraging and my son has learned so much in just a few weeks. My son looks forward to his session each week. She is also an amazing musician herself and plays her instrument side by side with my son which allows him to hear and learn the individual notes.

Do you want to play what is known as the coolest woodwind out there? Move aside, oboe!

During a Corinne saxophone lesson, you will learn how to create beautiful sounds first and foremost. If at first you sound like a goose, fear not! A little bit of time with me will go a long way.

Once you are producing some quality saxophone sounds, we will move on to learning notes, reading music, and accomplishing your goals!

Aside from perfecting saxophone technique, we will also work on musicality and listening skills! These skills are important in bringing music to life.

If you already know how to play the saxophone, I will continue your education in whatever direction you would like to go.

I look forward to working with you!

About Corinne
Hello! Thank you for checking out my TakeLessons profile. My name is Corinne, and my passion is teaching. Great teachers can have lasting effects on their students, and I cherish the possibility of improving my students’ lives through music.

When I'm teaching a lesson, it may seem on the surface that we're only practicing how to play their instrument well. However, with every student that I meet, my goal is to help them learn how to set and achieve realistic goals. A brand new clarinet student’s weekly goal may be to play their instrument for 10 seconds without taking a breath. An advanced clarinet student’s goal may be to master a piece for their college audition. Both students have challenging goals based on their skill level, but the goals look very different!

I believe that goal-setting is an important life skill that can set a
nyone on a path to greatness – as long as they know how to follow through.
My goal is to help YOU reach your goals.

When I am not working with students, you can find me working on my own goals! I practice all of my instruments often, and I am working hard to become a great tap dancer. My non-musical interests include learning about the coffee-making process, learning how to make costumes from scratch, and playing The Sims.

Thank you for your attention, and I hope to meet you soon!

I have been playing saxophone for almost 10 years and throughout that time I have played in many different ways. In high school, I was the section leader of the jazz band and led the band to state competitions all three years I was there. Currently, I play in the pop-rock band Chateau Chateau where I get to play for all kinds of people in Tucson! Lessons with me will start from the ground up where we learn what each little piece of the sax is used for as well as a few ways we can use them. Wanting more confidence in improvisation or trying to level up your playing? Let's tackle it together!

About Bryce
No matter which subject you decide to choose, know that my overall goal is to help you enjoy it! Whether that involves looking at actual constellations in the night time sky, learning your favorite song on an instrument, or even finding your new passion in cooking, everything is geared towards you! I will always have a lesson plan ready to go, but if there are specific things you want to go over, great! We'll focus on that! All you have to do is simply know what you want to learn, and I'll work on getting us there!

If you have any questions feel free to send one to me. It can be about basically anything; no holds bard! Even if you feel it might be a dumb/weird question, I will still answer it with zero judgments. A question is a question.

I am extremely passionate about music and saxophone playing. I started playing the saxophone in 4th grade and I continue to play it every day as a music education major in college. I have played all four of the major saxophones including baritone, tenor, alto, and soprano saxophone. I am a member of Duquesne University's top wind ensemble and I have studied with teachers such as James Houlik, Keith Young, and Mike Tomaro. I truly have a passion for music and I believe that everyone should have that passion. I would love to teach you and take your saxophone playing and overall musicianship to the next level!

About Jakob
I am a professional saxophonist studying music education at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have been playing and studying the saxophone for ten years. In my time playing the saxophone, I have had the experience of playing the baritone, tenor, alto, and soprano saxophone. I am incredibly proficient at all four major saxophones; however, the tenor saxophone is my primary.

Throughout my years performing, I have played at venues in Florida, Virginia, Chicago, and all around the Pittsburgh area. Some of my most notable performances include the National Navy Saxophone Symposium, the North American Saxophone Alliance Region 8 festival, the Lexus Club at PNC Park, and Disneyworld. Additionally, I am the band leader for my jazz quartet, "Intrinsic Jazz," and we have played several gigs around the Pittsburgh area.

At Duquesne,
I am a member of the Duquesne Wind Symphony. This is a nationally recognized ensemble famous for its breathtaking performances. I am also a member of the Duquesne University Saxophone Quartet. This quartet is comprised of the best saxophones in the Mary Pappert School of Music saxophone studio.

My playing and musicianship have been sculpted by some of the world's most premier saxophonists and composers such as James Houlik, Dr. Keith Young, and Mike Tomaro. Through these teachers, I have grown immensely as a saxophonist and as a musician and it is my goal to help other saxophonists, just beginning or advanced, take their playing and musicianship to the next level.

I have been taking lessons with Jon for almost four years now, and I am certain that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for these lessons! Jon has helped me prepare for college and develope a stronger foundation in terms of theory, ear training, and many other aspects of music. He is definitely the best music teacher I have ever taken lessons from. He teaches in a way that is engaging, is encouraging, and is dedicated to making sure you understand the material as opposed to memorizing theory without the background. Jon is flexible to whatever area of music you are interested in working on, but also provides enough structure so that his students can improve. Jons background and experience make him a really amazing teacher!
