Jonathan has a demonstrable amount of knowledge about the violin including different playing styles, music theory, and its practical application. His approach is incremental and measured that adapts to my specific strengths and weaknesses intermixed with an appropriate amount of patience. He is also very personable. I began privately instructing students while I was still in high school. Thirty years later, my studio teaching experience continues to instill a passion for music and students that are performing in their own venues in school and the community. Knowing that the time I have with each person is leading them to grow and share their own abilities with others is truly the heart of where I think musical instruction should lead.

About Kendra
Hello. My name is Kendra and I have been performing and teaching professionally for over 25 years. Utilizing the Suzuki curriculum and supplemental methods, I like to provide a solid technical foundation as well as tailor each lesson to my students' personal musical interests and goals including classical, Irish and Bluegrass fiddle styles, jazz, blues, and popular music.

I'm an older, experienced player that has had some specific problems after returning to violin after a long hiatus. I was concerned most with my vibrato and a bouncing bow. Kendra zeroed right in on those problems and they were resolved in just three lessons. Kendra is patient, knowledgeable and perfect for an adult player at any level. I imagine she is fantastic with younger players, as well.

Hello future students! I've been playing violin for 20 of my 25 years of age and teaching for 8 years. I believe that the most important part of learning the violin is having fun and building a passion for music. In my lessons we will focus on proper violin technique, music theory and fun application. In fun application, the student chooses what he/she would like to work on, whether it be Mozart or The Chainsmokers or the Moana score, and we learn it together!
I am also proficient in music production/engineering which means that my students can professionally record themselves in my home studio! I also make viral violin videos which I want to start including my students in. If this sounds like fun to you, let's get started! :)

I am writing this recommendation at the request of my daughter’s wonderful violin teacher, Ms. Pabst. Jacqueline is quite talented but it is her personality and character that sets her apart. My daughter is only six years old so Jacqueline’s patience and understanding goes a long way and they have developed a very sweet relationship. We hope we can continue taking lessons with Ms. Pabst for a long time. - Alan Farmer

Just like I strive for success in my own music, I love to see my violin students accomplish their goals! Whether these goals are big or small, it is my desire to help my students to be confident in their skills. To help, I incorporate ear training, sight reading, music theory, and good technique into my lessons. Students of all ages are welcome!

About Julianna
I am a professional violinist. Along with teaching, I enjoy playing for operas, recitals, and special occasions. Whether in an orchestra, a chamber ensemble, as an accompanist, or as a soloist, I have enjoyed performing and sharing my love for music with audiences.

I enjoy teaching students of all ages and levels. For beginners, I believe in the importance of building a strong foundation in music theory, ear training, and sight reading, not simply playing what is on the page. I work with my students so they have a deeper understanding of why the music was written the way it was, both technically and what the composer was emoting.

I have served as concertmaster for my alma mater's symphony for two seasons, participated in Florida All State orchestras, won sonata and concerto competitions, traveled two summers with a string quartet in the
New England area, and have several years of teaching experience. I hope to pass on my passion for music to each of my students, Whether they want to become a professional performer or pursue a hobby, I enjoy watching their growth as they learn and discover their passion for music.

I am a private violin instruction as well but have worked with Julianna for many orchestra perfomances, ensembles, and quartets. I traveled through New England one summer with her. She was the first violinist for our quartet. She did a great job leading the group musically. She is highly skilled and talented with the violin musically and technically. She is responsible and organized. She is passionate about music and excited to share that passions with anyone who is wanting to learn.

Learn from a Juilliard violinist. I'm an experienced soloist and chamber musician who has performed in 22 major cities in Europe, North America and Asia, appearing at world's most celebrated concert halls, festivals and TV/radio programs. However, my real love is for teaching. Unlike many of my musician colleagues who were born to be naturally nimble on the violin, I went through many struggles and breakthroughs while seeking out the best masters in the world, near and far. Having rigorously thought through every aspect of violin playing, from training my brain to perfecting a phrase, I've been able to help my students get closer to where I am much faster. While in NYC and Boston, I taught 100+ students from ages 3 to adult, from beginners to young professionals, and will be teaching a select group of dedicated students in San Mateo, CA, starting from spring 2018.

About Marie
Learn from a Juilliard violinist and experienced teacher!

I'm a soloist and chamber musician who has performed in 22 major cities in Europe, North America and Asia, appearing at world's most celebrated concert halls and festivals.

However, my real love is for teaching. I know how challenging it is to play the violin, especially if you haven't had quality instruction early in your training and somehow your fingers don't seem to listen to your brain. That was me - I've been there. Violin never came easy to me either, so throughout my years in training I sought numerous pedagogues in the world for advice. Through my own struggles and series of breakthroughs I learned to discipline my own brain and my own body to work together to produce beautiful music. My goal is to help my students get to where I am, and hopefully way beyond, much
faster.

Since 2003, I taught 100+ students who were children, as young as 3 years old, to adults, from beginners to young professionals in NYC and Boston. I'm taking a select group of dedicated students, starting from March 2018 in San Mateo.

I'm more than happy to meet with you for 30 minutes (free of charge) for an introductory lesson or plain chat to make sure this is the right step for you. Also, if you are new to the instrument, ask me about beginner group lessons.

[I'm brand new to TakeLessons so please excuse the lack of reviews!]
