Excellent Teacher.

I'm an experienced player, so I can't exactly say that he'd be good for someone who's just picking up a guitar. But he does an excellent job teaching technicality and musicality, which is something that many teachers lack these days. When I looked for a teacher I wanted someone who would help me better myself as a musician in a style I wasn't very familiar with. By musician, I mean someone who is not only technically proficient, but also very musical and a very good interpreter of music. So far he's helped me a lot in all of those aspects, while managing to keep a comfortable learning pace. I'd recommend him to anyone who really wants to push themselves musically.

Wonderful Teacher

Best instructor ever! Very patient, and has an instinctive ability to understand how a student best learns, and focuses on that style, thus producing results I never dreamed I could accomplish. It is a joy to work with Andre.

I have been teaching classical guitar for 25 years. I have multiple degrees in this field. I have studies with recording artist Fareed Haque, and have performed in the master classes of the Assad Brothers, and the Washington quintet.

About Scott
Scott D. was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois in 1967. He expressed a keen interest in music at an early age, and subsequently, began his studies with the clarinet, and percussion while performing in the school band. A short time after that, he decided guitar was going to be his instrument of choice, and began formal studies with blues man, Don Brown. After that, Scott moved on to study with session ace, Gary Blume. By the time we was 18, he began studies for what would be the first of his two degrees, at William Rainey Harper College. There he was mentored in both classical and jazz guitar under well known session player, and composer, Steven Suvada, and later continued with David Sussman, of the Lyric Opera in Chicago.

That year Scott went to Northern Illinois University to continue his studies for a second degree in Music
. There he studied under Fareed Haque, of Pangaea records, again obtaining both jazz and classical training. While at NIU, Scott took part in numerous jazz combos who performed extensively in the area. He has also had solo and mixed recitals at Harper, NIU and various other Chicagoland locations where he performed such pieces as: Heitor Villa Lobos’ Preludes # 1, 3 and 4, Mauro Giuliani's Grand Sonata Op. 25 for violin and guitar, and Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in D Major for 2 violin Liuto e Basso Continuo, Allegro Giusto, Largo, Allegretto.

On the more contemporary side he turned his attention to virtuoso guitar innovators, performing the works: Trademark, by Eric Johnson, Always With Me, Always With You, by Joe Satriani, Over My Head, by Douglas T. Pinnick, Ty Tabor, and Terry W Gaskill, Variations on a Theme of Van Halen, arranged by Scott and Tom Hapeman, as well as Scott’s original compositions, Nowhere Fast and Flight of The Monkey!

Scott played in many important master classes including the popular duo The Assad Brothers, and The Washington Guitar Quintet. He was also a member of the guitar ensemble from Harper College that was featured on cable television on numerous occasions.

Scott has been writing, recording, and performing in every genre imaginable for more than 20 years. He began in his teens performing in cover bands, then in college he founded a self titled fusion based instrumental trio. Later he joined the groups Equinox, The Bulletproof Babies and The Liberty Hounds. He is now writing, recording, and producing original compositions in his home studio, as well as actively performing classical guitar recitals and private events.

Scott has been teaching guitar, bass, drums, piano, and vocals for over 20 years at his private studio, Strings and Things, as well as at such locations as: Northern Illinois University, Village Music in Buffalo Grove, Beautiful Music, Music and Arts Center in Naperville, and Austin Music. He has taught classes from 2 students up to as many as 17 students at the Elk Grove Village, Palatine, Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Lisle and Prospect Heights Park Districts. He has developed innovative methods for learning sight reading, chord structure, harmony, voice leading, key signatures, scales and modes, aural skills, theory/composition and technique through learning the music you like to listen to, right from the CD in the actual lesson! His preferred techniques include Mel Bay methods for guitar, and chord diagram books, Segovia's diatonic major and minor scales, Segovia/Ricordi editions of Carcassi Op. 6 No. 25, and Fernando Sors 20 studies, Giuliani’s 120 right hand studies and Christopher Parkening methods. In addition, he prefers to use the Batersby drum methods, Mel Bay bass methods, and Alfred’s piano library.

Scott is available immediately for instruction in guitar, bass, drums, vocals and piano, Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays. Other days of the week can be arranged if needed.

*** Lesson Details ***
The student can expect a fun and laid back atmosphere, while still having a somewhat strict expectation with regards to practice and preparation. Each student is taught according to their background and musical tastes. After a few months, the student will have command of the fundamentals, and be working toward building a repertoire.

*** Studio Equipment ***
virtual drum kit, concert grand and keyboards, 24 track digital recording studio, seating for parents. All lesson books and materials available on location.

Couldnt ask for more

It's easy to say that Scott knows what he's talking about, he has plenty of experience and does a great job breaking things down to a simpler form. I've enjoyed my first month's classes and look forward to gaining a repertoire with him.

Classical guitarist of 7 years. I earned a B.A. in classical guitar from California State University Northridge and will do what I can to help you understand the guitar beyond what you imagined.

About Daniel
Daniel is more than just a guitar teacher, his intimate knowledge of an array of instruments, makes his
approach to teaching Guitar more immersive to the student without confusing them. His approach is
simple and effective, allowing the student to feel comfortable in their abilities and safe in the teaching
environment. Daniel’s passion for teaching as well as learning instruments allows him to connect to the
student and get them excited to learn. Daniel’s background in various musical groups and organizations
allows him to understand how students may feel the first day of teaching and how to relate the music to
their age and goals. Daniel also understand the importance of breaks and stretching between practicing
and lessons. Daniel not only teaches students how to play their pieces but how to properly relax hands
and take mental
breaks throughout the lessons and during practice. Daniel’s motto isn’t just to teach
Guitar but to really involve the student in all aspects of learning guitar, getting the student to engage in
the pieces, teaching them how to properly warm up before and after pieces, and how to stretch and
approach difficult pieces by allowing mental breaks and keeping the environment light and fun.
Daniel has played saxophone from 7 th grade until college.
Daniel was in drum corps for 5 years, 1 year on trumpet, 4 years on euphonium.
Daniel taught himself both drum set and guitar during high school.
Daniel went to CSUN to major in Classical Guitar.

As a student you can expect to learn how to read notes and rhythms on the acoustic guitar. you will learn, proper fingerings, develop right hand finger style (no pick), scales, short pieces and a good foundation for future guitar exploration.

You hablo Espanol y puedo conducir los leciones en Espanol.

About Steve
Yo hablo Epanol y Ingles y puedo conducir los leciones en Espanol.

My name is Steve and I enjoy playing/teaching guitar. I am patient with students. All I ask is that you make sure you have the time to study and practice daily for it is a commitment. I teach beginning and intermediate classical finger style guitar as well as electric/rock/blues and chord/scale theory. We can learn songs in their entirety with all details present. Learn classical, blues, classic rock songs (Note: for beginners, after we have gotten through the blues a little) metal (If you have a locking tremolo, you might have to make adjustments on it to facilitate the lower tunings usually used in metal nowadays but I can definitely help you with that.) Give me a call I would love to hear from you. Thank you :)

Touring guitarist, experienced composer for film/media, and professional music instructor for the past 8 years! I graduated Magna Cum Laude from McNally Smith College of Music with two bachelor's degrees; Guitar Performance and Instrumental Composition. I have taught students of literally all ages (4-76) and most specialize in guitar, music theory, and composition. I also teach beginner to intermediate piano lessons! My greatest strong suit as a teacher is my incredible flexibility in adapting to the student's learning style. Originally a self-taught guitarist, I know the struggles of learning or continuing to better oneself on an instrument. I guarantee you that I will work hard and patiently with you to help you reach your musical goals!

About Ethan
Hello and thank you for checking out my profile! My name is Ethan E. and I'm 22 years old. Originally raised in the northwestern tip of Minnesota, I moved to St. Paul to pursue a degree(s) in music after receiving a scholarship to McNally Smith College of Music. I am an active performer in the Twin cities area playing freelance and with the Adam Meckler Orchestra and Mariah Mercedes band. I'm comfortable playing a wide range of styles, but play mostly contemporary Jazz, Fusion, Classical, and Rock/Blues. I work closely with Grammy-nominated producer/arranger Andy Thompson (Taylor Swift/Jeremy Messersmith) and composer/arranger Adi Yeshaya (The Voice, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston). My ultimate love is composing music for orchestra and jazz ensemble. Composers and guitarists that have influenced me the most are Allan Holdsworth
, Pat Metheny, Sergei Rachmaninoff, John Williams, Randy Rhoads, and Adrien Moignard. Please let me share my knowledge and passion for music with you today!

Jay is fantastic. Not only is he a fun, outgoing person, he is absolutely brilliant on the guitar. I reached out to Jay because I wanted to improve my finger picking. He thoroughly taught me many different picking patterns that helped develop proper technique and accuracy. Because I taught myself to finger-pick on guitar my first 2 years of playing, I developed very bad habits. But with just 3 half-hour lessons with Jay, I've corrected these bad habits.
