I love the viola; I'm primarily a violist and love nothing more. I would love to share my passion with you or your child!

I have a Master's degree in Viola Performance, and viola is my primary instrument. I have received extensive instruction on the minutiae of the viola, and can help you with any need that you many have!

I tailor my approach to each student. Some students require more technical work, some require interpretive. Both are fascinating and can be taught with structure and clarity.

About Martina
Hi! My name is Martina and I am a classically trained violist. For my background, I received a Master of Music from Roosevelt University, where I studied with Lawrence Neuman of the Chicago Symphony. I received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin with Sally Chisholm of the Pro Arte quartet.

The only thing I love more than playing viola is sharing the joy of music with others! I've received training on violin and viola and can't wait to start teaching you or your child.

*** Lesson Details ***
I tailor my approach to each student to make sure that:
1.) The student is getting exactly what he/she wants out of the lessons.
2.) The lessons are an appropriate difficulty for the student.
3.) A student's strengths and weaknesses are being addressed with a tailor-made lesson plan and long-term goals.

***
Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a stand. Student is responsible for purchasing an instrument, and any sheet music. I can definitely advise on an instrument to purchase and will instruct with specific music requests.

My daughter has taken 5 violin lessons online with Susanna. I really appreciate that Susanna is such a nice, professional teacher. The schedule of her lessons are well organized. I were struggling for the busy schedule before. I'm so happy to find this online lesson, more important thing is that we get a pretty good teacher. We will definitely keep the violin lessons on with Susanna. My daughter has joined two orchestras for almost two years. This lesson will be a great help for my daughter in future.

Students can expect to learn the basics of holding and creating sound from a stringed instrument; parts of the viola; the string names; note reading; and to have a really great time learning!

About Lisa C.
After playing the violin for over 20 years, Lisa was inspired to share the gift of music with others by her teacher, Susanna Sonnenberg. Lisa is a member of the American String Teacher’s Association, and has attended the 2017 ASTA National Conference. She currently performs with the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra. Lisa has played in recitals, the Chartiers Valley High School Orchestra, and was accepted to the 2006 PMEA District Orchestra. She has studied with Larry Weiss, Linda Andersen, and others. Lisa can’t remember a time before she learned how to play the violin; it has brought her great joy. Her favorite piece to play is the Bach Double Concerto in D Minor.

At 8 years old, Lisa fell in love with the violin. Throughout school, she studied with private teachers and played with the school orchestra. At home, her dogs were a great audie
nce.

Lisa went on to study history at the University of Pittsburgh, and later earned her law degree from Duquesne. She never forgot her violin, though, and continued to play in her spare time.

Music adds beauty to the world, and finally, after years of keeping the violin to herself, Lisa decided to share her playing with others. Lisa teaches traditional, classical method. The method books she uses include: Essential Elements for Strings, Samuel Applebaum, and All for Strings, among others. She supplements the technical exercises with repertoire from the Suzuki series. Lisa enjoys playing all types of music, in addition to classical, and teaches these songs, as well. Additional music includes pop artists like Taylor Swift, classic rock, electronic music like Lindsey Stirling, celtic, folk, and just about any other type of music you can think of. As a teacher, Lisa strives to be positive and encouraging. She believes that music should be fun, so her main goal is to make sure her students are having a good time!

I attended Lisa's TakeLessonsLive Mastering Your First Violin Solo class. This session discussed strategies for practicing music until you can play it with confidence. Lisa has an array of ideas that will be a helpful resource for a variety of pieces. I really appreciated her tailoring the class to the needs at hand. Thank you for an enjoyable class, Lisa!

She gave the feeling of comfort and the ability to feel okay to make mistakes and to try . Even when encountering other violinists who were not so pleasant she made me feel as though I could accomplish anything and even gave me amazing cleaning tips, store tips, bowing help, and home exercises to practice on my own and did not make me feel pressured to but more lessons at all it was all in her character. She is a very divine teacher and I am definitely coming back.

Brynn is very patient with me and takes time to go over the music before playing. She fosters a positive learning environment, and is very encouraging.
Brynn not only teaches you to play the violin, but she goes over the fundamentals of violin practice etc. I don't have enough space to explain, you have to try a lesson for yourself!

I love the rich tones of a viola!

About Sheri
I play 18 different stringed instruments! I have been playing guitar since I was 9. I have been teaching private music lessons at a music studio since I was 18. I am a singer/songwriter/entertainer. I am very patient. I have a Masters degree in Special Education. I was in a car accident in 2008 and I was told I would never use my right hand again - and I proved the doctors and therapists wrong by using music instruments as my own form of physical therapy - you would never know by the way I play that I have had every finger in my right hand broken and I have plates and screws in my wrist. I can PLAY and TEACH - Guitar, 5-String Banjo, Dobro, Mandolin, Ukulele, Bouzouki, Violin, Viola, Cello, Tenor Banjo, Banjolin, Mountain Dulcimer, Bass, Banjolele, Autoharp, Hammer Dulcimer, Dulcimette, Banjitar.
