I've been teaching Voice since 2005. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to understand how the voice works and how to control your breathing and volume. And as time goes on you'll be able to sing the songs that you love with more control and understanding of how to sing the way you want to. I specialize in being able to sing well while being able to preform the song as you would on stage. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Jon was very patient with me as a beginner with never having learned how to read music before or play any instruments. I learned a lot which gave me confidence to continue with my lessons.

When I look back on my education, very few things really stick out. However, I will never forget those amazing teachers that bring a subject to life and change the way you think, forever. Jon is one of those teachers. He is encouraging, patient, informative, and helps you grow as a musician. I started as a beginner with a dream to play the piano. Even though I am still learning, that dream is now a reality and I can really play! If you have an opportunity to study with Jon, I highly suggest you take it. He changed my life and I'm sure he could change yours.

Everyone can sing! This is the basic truth i have found in teaching many different people all over the world, where people don't think they can sing, but never actually had anyone sit down with them to show them how easy and fun IT can be!

We can all free our own voices to fly where they will, and solid vocal instruction and guidance can help us to allow ourselves this freedom.... My teachers gave this to me! Now i am able to give IT onward to you.... :-)

About Nolan

Nolan is an international music educator from NYC who has taught and performed in the US, India, Thailand, and Europe. He encourages creativity and improvisation in all of his students, combined with a well-rounded understanding of musical basics.

"Wonderful Instructor

I studied music--voice and piano--with Ronda for a number of years when I was a teenager. She left a lasting impression on me, and I know that I flourished under her direction. She is patient and kind, but also meticulous and knowledgable. Her teaching style is both engaging and professional. She has a long history of successful music instruction and this is evident in her lessons. I highly recommend Ronda."

"Dr. Chaz is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor. He is an incredibly adept musician. He can identify what exactly you need improvement on and provides the most helpful advice on how to attain that improvement. I have studied music (flute) for 10 years with numerous teachers and band/orchestra directors, all very skilled and incredible themselves, but I never received clearer instruction than with Dr. Chaz. He explained concepts that many young musicians (like myself) struggle with and he beautifully portrays the relationship between theory, practice, and performance. Additionally, I appreciate his emphasis on ensuring vocal health and meditation- meditating pitches so that one can internalize the pitches to sing them more accurately. I was planning to remain his student for as long as I could but due to personal health and scheduling reasons, I had to discontinue and hope to return soon. I 150% recommend taking his lessons. Get ready to learn so much and expand as a musician!"

"Three Reasons to take lessons from Josh:
1. He's a musical genius. Seriously, the man knows his stuff.
2. Hes a fabulous teacher. Whatever your learning style, learning preference, difficulties, etc. he has an approach that will help make you into a better musician and performer. He wants to teach you WHATEVER it is you want to learn about music and performance, not just the basics-he wants to find out how music engages you personally, which is a rare and really cool thing.
3. He works at your pace. you can work on improving your skills as slow (or as fast) as you want.

Basically, Josh is a wonderful teacher with a wealth of technical skill and talent in addition to a great deal of compassion and patience making him everything a person could really ask for in a teacher. I recommend him whole heartedly!"

How to Scream Sing Without Hurting Your Vocal Cords

Do you love metal, punk, or "screamo" music? As a vocalist, you'll need to take extra precautions if you're singing in these styles. Read on for tips from Austin, TX teacher Gfire M...   I live in Austin, Texas, the “live music capital of the world,” so I have worked with loads of vocalists who sing in touring rock bands.
